There's a great thread at the moment about girl's names but I'm having a boy...

Peregrine

Loved it when I came across it in a book in my mid teens, although I must have come across it before as I'd read lord of the rings by then and Pippin is a shortening of Peregrine.

Not brave enough though Sad

Solomon is my absolute favourite. Followed by Gideon.

I have a Rohan. A twist on Rowan, which is Gaelic for "red-haired one". Which he most definitely is in every way Grin

I'm due a baby boy in September and names I loved but were ultimately cast off were:

Somerled or Somhairle (Cornish and Scots Gaelic versions respectively of 'Sorley')
Casper
Ivo
Oisin
Cormac

I'm still gutted about Somerled. It doesn't really go with our surname but I hanker after it all the same.

I also like the following names which aren't unusual, but aren't used much for babies in England & Wales nowadays: Simon, Peter, Dennis, Malcolm, Gregory, Graeme (but not Graham, even though they're pronounced the same. No idea why), Hugh, Edmund, Hamish, and Martin.

Buntysoven · 01/12/2016 01:33

Cedric is my guilty pleasure.
