What do people think of this name?

Do people generally know how it is pronounced? we live in France so want a french name but may move back to England someday.

Met a cool French kid called Thibault years ago so I've always liked the name but it would be a lot of work for the kid in a non-Francophone country. Do you have any shortened versions you'd be happy to use?

I know how to pronounce it, but only because I knew someone called Tiabault. I must admit I was surprised to find out how he spelled his name.

I'd say Tibbo now that you told me it's French.

Before that I would've said Ti-bolt. Like nuts and bolts.

I don't speak French and had never heard this name before. TBH I don't think it works in English, it'll be constantly produced thi-bolt which i assume isn't the correct pronunciation and doesn't sound good, IMHO.

I've never seen the name but my first thought was to say Tibbult like in Romeo and Juliet.

it's a nice name but unless you are moving back to London, it wouldn't really work.

It's an awesome name. But I speak French. If you think he might live in the UK then he'll have a lifetime of trouble getting people to pronounce it!

It's my dog's name! DH wouldn't let me use it for our sons, seeing as we're not actually French. It's lovely.

It can also be spelt Tibaut or Tibaud which would be a bit easier for english but then is not the normal french spelling ! or the Shakespearean spelling is Tybalt.

I also know how to pronounce it thanks to the cyclist Thibault Pinot. It's a nice name & I'm sure people in the UK will get used to it.

I went to uni with a cool french guy called Thibault. He was gigantically tall and massively laid back. We used to just shrug (in a french way) and say "Thibault time" when anyone asked what time to meet. Good times, good times.

Fwiw it would be quite an unfashionable name for a baby in France.

If so I like it. He would I'm sure at some point have to spell it out but let's face it there are scenarios when a lot people have to spell out either their first or surnames( I have to a lot) and it's not really a big deal in my opinion.
