My son is 10 months old, his name is very similar to a celebrity and it's already causing problems.

At first, people would say the celebrity's name, whenever I introduced them, thinking they had heard it wrong... Failing to realise they were taking the piss.

I'm not sure what to do...

I wouldn't know him if he came up to me and asked me to marry him, but saying that that though. I'm like 100 years old. Grin

Raines100 · 17/07/2016 22:33

Never heard of him.

HitsAndMrs · 17/07/2016 22:37

I have the same name as a celebrity. Every person I meet says something but it's soon forgotten about. Don't worry about it!

sonlypuppyfat · 17/07/2016 22:38

Who? My DS has the name of a famous sports man , no one mentions it

GinnyMcginface · 17/07/2016 22:41

My surname is Christmas. Everyone is a comedian Wink I also once went out with a chap called Elton and his middle name is actually John. True story. My friend's nana has the married surname Ankers and her Christian name begins with W. These are hilarious/worrying/unfortunate name choices. I wouldn't give Charlie Booth a minute's thought?

AuldYow · 17/07/2016 22:47

BikeRunSki are you called Jon Bon Jovi Wink

OP I've impressed myself that I know who you mean but I wouldn't say your son's name particularly merits any comparison. Ignore them and enjoy your baby Smile

BikeRunSki · 17/07/2016 22:49

Auld heavier rock than that, girls name.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 17/07/2016 22:50

I have a story about the name Christmas. That my mum told me about my dad.
In his younger day before I was born. He was arrested with his friends for being drunk and disorderly, anyway. They were all giving their names
Joe Blogs. John Smith ect ect. Next second a bloke gives his names with a total straight face as Mr F Christmas. Whats your name said the police officer
Honest it's Mr F Christmas. He wasn't joking either that was his name. Poor bloke, and Ironically it was around Christmas time

There used to be a Venus Williams who worked in Swindon Unemployment centre. She might be still there. She's not the tennis player.

GinnyMcginface · 17/07/2016 23:03

lighthouse it's a hazard of the name I'm afraid. I'm always amazed at the number of people who don't believe it is a surname and also the number of people who ask if my first name is Mary, as if they are the most hilarious and witty comedian who has ever graced God's green Earth. Ho hum, my childhood head teacher's surname was Kuntz so it could have been worse...

HooseRice · 17/07/2016 23:07

I know someone called Edward John. Nickname is Elton. Absolutely everybody calls him Elton. Everybody.

AYD2MITalkTalk · 17/07/2016 23:08

There are always worse connotations than a popular singer.

I went to school with a Kimberly Clark.

IHeartKingThistle · 17/07/2016 23:10

I taught a Phil Collins. It was funny for about two seconds. The rest of the kids didn't give a monkeys.

I've never heard of this person - I can't imagine YouTube celebrities tend to have lengthy careers!

badtime · 18/07/2016 00:05

When I was a kid a knew a Warren Beatty and a Diana Ross. The funniest was actually Lee Bruce, where it just looked ridiculous anywhere the surname was written first.

CourtJester · 18/07/2016 12:46

Never heard of him! I googled him and have heard of the Marvin Gaye song, but i never in a million years would have been able to name the guy that sang it (I'm in my 20s)

I knew a Jack Daniels in school... Now which do you think is worse?

WhyCantIuseTheNameIWant · 18/07/2016 14:58

I know brother's called jack and Daniel.

And two Sara Lees.

And a Wilbur Wright.

Lighthouse, are you Jean Simmons?
(No need to answer, I just wanted a guess)
