Surnames- husbands or my surname?

I didn't take my husbands surname when we married and didn't double barrel it as they sounded ridiculous together!!
Our first dd has taken my husbands surname and I assumed I'd do the same for our second (currently pregnant) but I would like one child to share my name. I'm also uncomfortable with the convention that the man's name should always be used.
Just wondering what others have done if they have different names?

Seems like a very complicated way to go about things when the deed poll service is there. You don't even need to take your knickers off.

Betrand Russell I won't tell you what it is - would be massively outing - but it was an unusual spelling of a regional name which caused me untold problems when booking tickets/on official documents etc. I'm now Mrs Something-very-common and I love it!!

Not everyone has their fathers or their FILs name? Hmm

I for one changed my surname by deed poll as a teenager to something from the maternal side of the family specifically because I DIDN'T want my father's surname anymore.
