Rose Beatrice or Rose Abigail

swancourt · 05/07/2016 21:42

Beatrice means 'bringer of joy'

Abigail means 'father's joy'

I prefer Rose Beatrice as the meaning is slightly more to my taste. DH likes the meanings but not keen on either middle name.

For both names I think Rose sits better as a middle name. Rose as a name on it's own.

RoosterCogburn · 05/07/2016 21:49

I agree with TroysMammy - I like Abigail Rose best

swancourt · 05/07/2016 21:49

That's not really up for debate! Rose is the first name (if this baby is a girl) :)

I'd choose Rose Beatrice because like you I prefer the meaning of Beatrice.

As an alternative, how about Felicity which means happiness. Not quite the same meaning, but similar.

I chose DS3's middle name specifically for its meaning, so I understand how important it can be.

Rose Beatrice, definitely.

DanyellasDonkey · 05/07/2016 22:17

Actually I prefer Abigail Rose as I think a short name is better as a middle name.

Beatrice is not nice with my accent - Beet-riss but may work better in other areas

Liz09 · 05/07/2016 22:19

Rose Abigail.

Not keen on Beatrice.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/07/2016 23:00

Neither. None of them flow with Rose as a FN.
I love Abigail Rose though. I'm a bit fits and starts with Beatrice. One day I'll like it next day I won't. Odd I know

swancourt · 05/07/2016 23:12

Just going to say - for a third time - Rose is the first name! Deciding on a middle name. Wouldn't ever choose Abigail or Beatrice as a first name - going on meaning. My other two DDs have family names as middle names but we're out of ones we like/want to use, so I want to have something with a nice meaning.

But Rose is the first name, people. Rose - please nobody else suggest using Rose as a middle name!

lighthouse I have the same problem with Beatrice, actually. And danyella - you're not from the North East by any chance?! :)

Just call her Rose then. It's not compulsory to have a middle name as you never get called it. I don't have a middle name as my mother had difficulty picking one name let alone two.

Sophronia · 05/07/2016 23:41

Rose Abigail is lovely. Rose as a first name seems pretty and fresh, it's overused as a middle name.

I love Rose as a first name. I prefer Rose Beatrice. Just throwing another name into the mix, there is a Rose Eleanor in my family. I think it's beautiful. She does go by that as her everyday name, occasionally shortened to Rosella which I also like. Congratulations x

AGBforever · 06/07/2016 02:55

Rose Beatrice, lovely. Rose Abigail, also nice..just prefer the first

MsKite · 06/07/2016 03:31

Rose is beautiful as a first name. Rose Beatrice is better I think.

Flossiesmummy · 06/07/2016 04:59
