Billy!

PlugUgly · 27/06/2016 13:24

Alfie

Feelingblue222 · 27/06/2016 13:29

Alfie, really suits my df 1year old

Pipilangstrumpf · 27/06/2016 13:37

Both are very cutesy and may fall out of favour soon.

How about William?

FurbysMakeSexNoises · 27/06/2016 13:39

Like Billy with William and full name. Alfie's are everywhere, including pet names.

Pipilangstrumpf · 27/06/2016 13:41

Although I never understand how you get Billy from William, shouldn't it be Willy?!

1horatio · 27/06/2016 13:43

William nn Billy (or Bill, when older) is lovely! Smile

sonlypuppyfat · 27/06/2016 13:44

Don't forget you are naming someone who one day will be a great big hairy arsed bloke don't give him a silly baby name

Gummibaers · 27/06/2016 13:50

Both are too cutesy and almost a little comical imo. I'd prefer a stronger, more classic name personally.

ThoraGruntwhistle · 27/06/2016 13:58

I think they're both lovely but I'd go for William so he can choose to be called Will or Billy or Bill when he's older.

DerelictMyBalls · 27/06/2016 14:36

Billy

I very strongly dislike Alfie.

Gummibaers · 27/06/2016 14:38

If I had to choose, then I'd go for William with nickname Willy/Billy.

bolognaadvice · 27/06/2016 14:40

Do you want your child to grow up on Albert square?

If not find a new name :)

user1465823522 · 27/06/2016 15:06

honestly...neither

as am employer i can say that names are the first things we see about someone. it indicated class - which in turn leads to education etc.

there has been a horrible trend over the last 10 years of giving kids cutesy names that, in all honesty, will look ridiculous on a job application.

the problem with names is that we don't choose them for ourselves - our parents do - and likewise our kids don't choose theirs.

Personally I have avoided cutesy or trendy names or nicknames etc and given my kids names that will stand up regarding furture uni and work prospects. What I call them in private is another matter.

So you're choices are Billy or Alfie - and that's fine and cute in private. But, or instance, if you want to call him Billy then what is wrong with William?

Boy12345 · 27/06/2016 15:32

Should have said. William would be on the BC and Alfred would be on the BC Smile

Meh, not a fan of nicknames as full names at all. William or Alfred or even Alfonse.

n0ne · 27/06/2016 15:59

Sorry, RTFT!!! Alfred, then Smile

Bluesand1 · 27/06/2016 16:28

William

Quercus3 · 27/06/2016 16:29

Billy/William

Bluesand1 · 27/06/2016 16:39

user1465823522 which trendy boys names do you mean?

twinjocks · 27/06/2016 17:10

Billy

LadyAntonella · 27/06/2016 17:24

Neither if I'm honest. Alfie's are everywhere and I don't like it anyway - it's quite cutesy as pps have said, though because there are so many in my DD's generation it will probably not be so cutesy when they are adults as everyone will know an adult one, if that makes sense! Billy is that guy from Eastenders to me! It's ok as a nn (for William I imagine), but I don't like it as a full name on its own.

1horatio · 27/06/2016 17:25

In this case I prefer Alfred. Buf William is also nice. Billy and Alfie are both cute nns :)

villainousbroodmare · 27/06/2016 22:30

William.

MrsBungle · 27/06/2016 22:32

William.
