Amy or Aimee or Aimée?

Which spelling would you use and why?

Registering DD2 tomorrow and finally found a name DP, DD1 and I all like!

Isn't there also madeleine tho? Names are difficult and never underestimate someone's ability to get it wrong.

For everyone saying aimée is pronounced aimay, it's not. It's eh at the beginning and somewhere between may and meh at the end. I believe it came before amy as obviously it comes from je t'aime and was anglicised. Which I don't think I have spelt correctly.

I don't imagine amy is that common with newborns so think that be original enough especially if you aren't french.

I have an Aimee, it's not pretentious, it's not us trying to be different. It's a nod to our family ethnicity, without the faff of the accent.

Also I don't think in this day and age having to spell your name is a big thing. I have a bog standard name with only one spelling and I am still asked to spell it when I give my name. I don't think people assume spellings even on obvious names.

I am an Amie. Nothing is ever right (though it doesnt bother me). I tell people its Jamie without J if a spelling is required.

I worked with an Amie and a taught an Amy. My cousin's little girl is Aimee. My son's friend is Aimée but I'm never sure if it's è or é or which e it goes on 😊
