Do you like your name? I actually love my name despite a recent thread where it was pretty much torn to pieces. It was unusual for its time (more common now) and is part of the reason I would like to give my daughter a slightly unusual name (for 2016) too.

Curious about how you feel about your name and if it has influenced your thoughts about baby names.

I've always loved mine despite it being really common in the 1970s.

No, I hate my name.

It's the name of someone 20-30 years older than I am, so not fashionably old just old.

I am actually known as my middle name and always have been and would you believe this nearly ended up in a disciplinary at work.

My actual name - my middle name I have always been known by - is impossible and everyone gets it wrong.

I like my first name it's a classic but I don't often meet another. However I feel my middle name is boring and a filler name, which is why both my DCs have long beautiful middle names that we would have used as a first name.

Not really, no. It's a really common name but just doesn't have a particularly nice sound to me. I rarely am called by my full name though and I like my nns.

Yes, more now than when I was younger. But I never really minded it even then.
It's more popular now then when I was young.

I love my name. It's not very common but very well known. It's short, easy to spell (as a child), easy to say.

It is quite old woman though, but I don't care a jot.

One thing i hate about my name is that i don't have a middle name!

Love my name, it is well known and recognisable but uncommon at the same time. Every time I have seen it pop up on here it has had loads of positive comments.

There are similar names that my name is often misheard as which can be annoying, but it is easy to correct people and I often don't bother if I'm unlikely to ever meet the person calling me the wrong name again!

Same as TrinityForce most people with my name are generally about 20 years older than me, not really sure what my parents were thinking actually. My favourite girls name is Emmeline, wish I was called that instead!

I love my name it's classic and has managed to stay popular for a couple of decades but when I meet other people with my name I manage to completely disassociate myself from it. As if they were called another name! Same with DH's name - I have seen a few on tv shows with the same name but never think 'oh that's DH's name' unless I see it written down, then it's odd.

Mum calls me the first, Dad called me the second, I call myself the third. My middle name is Charlotte, would rather have been called Charlie tbh.

When I chose my DCs names, the first one was because I liked it, the second after a very dear BF. Not sure why we chose DS2's name, we hadn't spoken of any names and were still choosing his name after he was born. Same with DD2. I always wanted 'Adam' if we had a boy but knew it didn't 'go' with our surname so we had to rename DS1 & 2. But when DS3 popped out, DH decided to register DS3 as 'Adam'. I still feel uncomfortable about it, but never mind.

When we were thinking of names, we went with ones that we knew would be career names. We knew that Trixie Lulu Fluffypants could be whatever she wanted in theory, but it would be weird introducing herself if she chose a career outside of the entertainment industry. (sorry to all the Trixie Lulu Fluffypants out there). We chose 'safe' names.

I love my name, though it is a bit too common for my liking. Hated having to be known as Firstname Lastname at school! It has a pretty sound, though, looks nice written down and there is a famous book (and film) with my name as the title, which feels very glamorous to me!

Classic biblical name that gets shortened then some twat sticks an ie on the end which makes it as long as it was originally

I like mine. It's often suggested for new babies here. In nearly 70 years I've only ever met about four others , but it's very easy to spell and say, and to understand, including in other countries. Sorry I don't feel like telling you what it is though !

No I hate it. I've never really forgiven my parents For calling me it. It's the most plain boring name in the world. It can't be shortened or anything.

Kind of, it's grown on me, but I don't think of it as an "adult" name. It's fairly modern and popular in Canada and the States, but relatively unheard of in the UK. I've seen it mentioned on Mumsnet once and it wasn't given a passing glance.

People in the UK tend to hear my name, ask me to repeat it, and then call me something vaguely similar unless I correct them all the time.

Yes, I actually love it. (Is this conceited? I'm just complimenting my parent's taste...)
When I was around 5 I decided my name needed to end in a (there's a version that ends in a and one in e). I was very persistent and everybody ended up using the a version. I even had to go to the secretary to change it back to the e version before graduation... :)

I did dislike it for about 2 weeks in 4th grade (I wanted to be called Vera, I think) but that's it.

I don't mind it now, but I don't think it suits me. It was an unusual name when I wad little, and I really disliked it, I just wanted to be Sarah or Kelly or something normal!

Yes I like my name and I very rarely meet other people with the same name although it's not madly unheard of - it's also hyphenated which generally seems frowned upon on MN but I don't care

Nope, hate it. Don't even have a middle name to use instead. I was named after a 'glamorous neighbour' who happened to be 30 years older than me. The name is not glamorous, it can also be a man's name. I live in a region where locals shorten every name, which makes it sound even worse

It like my parents thought 'hey let's look at the most common names for 1980' I have both of those for my name. In every class at school there was at least one other with the same name, one lesson there were 3 others. I bloody hate my name.

I went for something a bit different for my own child and checked what was I top 100 then avoided those.
