What's the strangest reason for rejecting a name you've heard?

Chatting to DP about girls names for DC2. I suggested a classic name which just happens to be the name of both of his grandmothers, and then suggested a shortening we'd use day to day. Let's say it's Elizabeth, with us actually using Betty/Bets.

He agreed this is a great name, in keeping with DD1's name, a lovely touch to use a family name, and he really likes the shortening Bets. However, an old friend of ours for some very obscure reason refers to his own mother as "Bets". This is a friend who now lives in another country and whose mother we've never actually met. But for this reason, DP thinks we should veto the name because it's "a bit weird" Confused

Anyone got an stupider reasons?

My OH vetoed Molly because he had a dog called Molly 20 years ago! And Rosie because someone in our village has a dog called Rosie!

I'm sure there's a plenty of dogs with our little girls name, glad he didn't know of any though!

My Mum loved Nicholas for my brother but decided against it on the off chance he might have a lisp! Stupid thing is our surname also ends in an S so wouldn't have made much difference!

I have always thought Nicholas sounds too much like Knickerless.

My df's name is Nichollas (my grandmother couldn't spell either), spent his childhood with the nickname "Nickel Arse"

I don't like purple names. Names like Lavender, Iris, Florence, Fleur etc. I know names don't have colours and even if they did Florence shouldn't be purple, except in my mind it is and I am not keen.
