Baby no.2 due December. Took DH literally all 9+ months to come up with DD's name (Elodie) and it was literally as she was placed in my arms I knew that was her name BUT in a just for fun name convo last night (am only 13 weeks gone) we came up with Winter Rose Charlotte for a girl (due December).

I love it, but have a I gone a little barmy....? MIL will hate it for sure. Obviously I know we have a while to go, but it just... feels right.

There's a quite twee novel called 'The Winter Rose'.

I think it sounds like one of those grim Yankee candles- sorry!

Not to mention there's a fair chance kids in her class would call her Waitrose.....

Winter is ok on its own. Winter Charlotte if you must but Winter Rose is twee.

I love Winter for a name but Rose makes me think of summer...what about a more wintery plant name? At the moment I can only think of Holly or Ivy but I'm sure there's better!

I think it's cute and very girly. The only thing is that if she grows up more of a tomboy then she might hate it as it's quite princessy

Hmm you have all got me thinking about the Rose thing (especially the Yankee candle comment Confused) Rose is a name I have always loved and was going to be DD1s name but it just didn't fit! Maybe time to let that one go as I am rather in love with Winter...

Ignoring the 'uneducated parents' comment too... Grin hehe. What can I say, I love a girly name! For me Winter feels feminine yet strong.

The MN search continues!

Rose is a lovely name. I just don't think it goes with Winter.

Winter Rose is lovely. The Charlotte doesn't seem to fit, though. Seems redundant.

Winter rose sounds like something out of the David Austin catalogue. Like it rearranged as others have suggested

Love Winter!
Also like Wren, Verdi & Moss wish I had more kids to name

Winter will get 'shortened' to Winnie

I love Rose, and separately I quite like Winter although I'm too conventional to choose it myself Wink I agree they both have a string yet feminine feel.

However, I agree they're a bit too much together and a bit Disney. It detracts from both of them I think.

Where has this Winter name come from? I keep seeing it on here. Just reminds me of a Disney villain. It's just so try hard and kind of weird at the same time. I just think Charlotte or Rose are beautiful first/middle names alone. Just wondering if you could use any other winter type names? Holly/Ivy/Eve? Maybe I'm just too traditional op?!

Love Winter (wouldn't have worked on my little spring chick though unfortunatley so couldn't use it!), really like Charlotte but not fussed on Rose. The 3 names do flow really nicely though so maybe Winter Charlotte Another 1 syllable middle name?

If it feels right then go for it! I'm jealous you know so early....took me AGES to decide on dd2...so many girls names to choose from!

To me Winter is a surname, so Winter Rose Charlotte, sounds like you're filling in a application form for a girl called Rose Charlotte Winter. Would be the same if the order was Winter Charlotte Rose. In fact Charlotte Rose trips of the tongue better than Rose Charlotte for me.

I quite like it tbh. Prefer Charlotte Winter Rose, but Winter makes for a cute fn. Love Winter and Elodie for sisters too x

Its fine, ive heard much worse and even if its not to my exact taste its pretty inoffensive and is in the same vein as Elodie.

I really don't like Winter. Sorry. I have an "unusual" first name which I hate, and which I don't ever use as a result. If you must have it I'd definitely use it as a middle name. If she loves it too she can always use it, if she doesn't then no harm done and she isn't lumbered with it.

Oo yes to DPotter's suggestion - Winter Charlotte Rose, this avoids the Winter Rose thing but keeps Rose as the middle name you always wanted. Just 'Winter Charlotte' seems clunkier somehow.

Agree it's lovely with Elodie.

If you're going to have an adventurous name like Winter I don't see the point in using it as a middle name - needs to be out and proud!

Bronwen? Carys?

Winter Rosalie Grace?

What DPotter said.
Winter is a season. If it is used as a name, then I would assume that's the surname.
I suspect she will be very fed up all her life having people comment on her name and having to explain it.
Stick with Charlotte - lovely name Smile
