Baby no.2 due December. Took DH literally all 9+ months to come up with DD's name (Elodie) and it was literally as she was placed in my arms I knew that was her name BUT in a just for fun name convo last night (am only 13 weeks gone) we came up with Winter Rose Charlotte for a girl (due December).

I love it, but have a I gone a little barmy....? MIL will hate it for sure. Obviously I know we have a while to go, but it just... feels right.

Winter Rose is dreadful, sorry...

Charlotte is lovely, as is Rose.

It sounds like a variety of potato to me.

My name is Charlotte-Rose ! Winter would make a nice middle name :-)

It reminds me of Briar Rose (sleeping beauty)

Winter Rose sounds princessy because it's like Snow White. Winter on it's own doesn't sound feminine or girly at all to me, could just as easily be a name for a boy. Mainly because to me it's just not a name at all. Elodie is very pretty though :)

Elodie and Winter go very well together, I think that Winter Charlotte Rose sounds less Disney Princess.

Winter Charlotte Rose runs off the tongue better.

Charlotte Winter Rose is IMHO lovely! You have loads of time to consider other possibilities anyway. ❄️
Timelytess. I once heard of a small boy who was actually, for no apparent reason, named Disney 🤔

Winter Rose Charlotte sounds like a cake or a cocktail
A grip needs to be caught

Charlotte Rose is good

Ah, December. Ignore my last question Blush

Winter is nice. Rose is nice. Winter Rose consecutively is twee/Disney/handsoap.

If those are the names you've chosen, then go with Winter Charlotte Rose.

Is she due in winter? Or will it still be Autumn?

I really like it.

I know a Summer who was born in winter, which I can't get my head around. I think Winter is a beautiful name, as is Autumn.

Winter Rose Charlotte works really well I think. Good luck with your pregnancy... 💐

Summer and Autumn are seasons not names for people. I know I'm old fashioned but that's my view. Probably stems from a child I knew a while ago who had a season's name as her first name, but who was not born in that season - just irritated me.

Summer and Autumn are both names though

What DPotter said.
Winter is a season. If it is used as a name, then I would assume that's the surname.
I suspect she will be very fed up all her life having people comment on her name and having to explain it.
Stick with Charlotte - lovely name Smile

Bronwen? Carys?

Winter Rosalie Grace?

Report
anastasiakrupnik · 23/05/2016 23:04

Oo yes to DPotter's suggestion - Winter Charlotte Rose, this avoids the Winter Rose thing but keeps Rose as the middle name you always wanted. Just 'Winter Charlotte' seems clunkier somehow.

Agree it's lovely with Elodie.

If you're going to have an adventurous name like Winter I don't see the point in using it as a middle name - needs to be out and proud!

I really don't like Winter. Sorry. I have an "unusual" first name which I hate, and which I don't ever use as a result. If you must have it I'd definitely use it as a middle name. If she loves it too she can always use it, if she doesn't then no harm done and she isn't lumbered with it.

Its fine, ive heard much worse and even if its not to my exact taste its pretty inoffensive and is in the same vein as Elodie.

I quite like it tbh. Prefer Charlotte Winter Rose, but Winter makes for a cute fn. Love Winter and Elodie for sisters too x

To me Winter is a surname, so Winter Rose Charlotte, sounds like you're filling in a application form for a girl called Rose Charlotte Winter. Would be the same if the order was Winter Charlotte Rose. In fact Charlotte Rose trips of the tongue better than Rose Charlotte for me.
