What are people's thoughts on Cassie?

If you like it, how would you spell it, and what would you put on the BC? Cassandra? Cassia? Or just Cassie?

Reminds me of my dog as she is called cassie

WellErrr · 04/04/2016 07:39

Hmm not great start....! Anyone else?

It's ok...A bit safe, but makes a change from the Ellies/ Evies/ Isla's etc

Twowrongsdontmakearight · 04/04/2016 07:51

I think Cassandra/Cassie is a lovely name. Classic but not too popular. And flexible. She can be Cassandra if she wants to be high powered or Cass if she's laid back - lovely!

We also know a dog called Cassie but also dogs called Sally/Daisy/Tom etc so I wouldn't let that put you off.

Gileswithachainsaw · 04/04/2016 07:53

I like it. I'd go with cassiopia

not that id have a dc3 to use it

Marcipex · 04/04/2016 07:55

I like it, I'd go for Cassandra I suppose.....only I hear Del and Rodney saying that.

I really like Callie and Callista.

WellErrr · 04/04/2016 08:52

Thanks all.

Regarding popularity - does anyone actually know a Cassie? And if so what age?

I never comment on name threads, but just had to as I really like Cassie - probably short for Cassandra.

I am a teacher (secondary) but I don't think I have ever taught a Cassie - and I thought I'd taught at least one of everything! So it's unusual without being too different, IMO

StrapOnDodo · 04/04/2016 09:06

I think Cassandra in the Greek myths was a lady who was always predicting tragedies. She was always right but people thought she was a bit miserable...

It is a nice name though

StrapOnDodo · 04/04/2016 09:07

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra

DatsunCogs · 04/04/2016 09:09

Love Cassia and would have had it for my DS if a DD... No more babies so use it for me!

stiffstink · 04/04/2016 09:10

Cassiopeia is amazing, I wish it went with our surname.

Cassie could be short for Cassidy.

WellErrr · 04/04/2016 10:02

I like Cassia as I like flower names - I like Cassandra but I do hear Del Boy in my head a bit when I say it...!
Not so keen on Cassiopeia as its a bit of a mouthful....but love that it means the Swan constellation.

Leaning towards Cassia at the moment but DH thinks it sounds a bit made up. She'd be Cassie every day anyway but not sure if that's enough for the BC?

WellErrr · 04/04/2016 10:04

Just googling to find some pictures of Cassia flowers and came upon this not-at-all-hilarious description -

Cassia fistula, known as the golden shower tree and by other names....

Kids can't google, right?

I love the name Cassie! :)

I know one, about 19 years old, from the east midlands - It isn't short for anything, just Cassie.

I would probably use it on its own or as short for Cassidy.

manicinsomniac · 04/04/2016 10:51

I like Cassie.

But I love Cassandra and Cassidy and really like Cassia so I don't think I'd shorten it.

I know two Cassandras (one is 25 and the other is 5). The older one goes by Cassandra and the younger by Cece.

Narp · 04/04/2016 10:52

I really like Cassie

Although I think it's often good to put an alternative on the BC, in this case I wouldn't.

MadameDePompom · 04/04/2016 11:01

I really like the name Cassie. It's pretty but isn't overly twee.

Cassia is lovely too but Cassiopeia is too frill-tastic for me and Cassandra just reminds me of Rodney's drippy girlfriend. Cassidy is surname and I've never met a person with that as their first name.

Sophronia · 04/04/2016 11:04

I like Cassandra and Cassia.

LottieDoubtie · 04/04/2016 11:06

Kids can google and what's worse is that call it 'search it up'. Which is all kinds of wrong.

Cassie is lovely, I think I would put Cassandra on the BC for options in adulthood. I know one Cassie, she would be early 30s now and probably still Australian Wink

I don't think it's ever been majorly popular in the UK, but it's nice.

GingerLeaves · 04/04/2016 16:05

I don't really like it, sorry...

Penfold007 · 04/04/2016 16:29

I'd go for Cassandra and use Cassie as a family name for her.

Nuttypops · 04/04/2016 16:34

It's lovely, it is one I would consider for our next DC.

I taught a Cassie (Cassandra) about 2 years ago, she was 8 at the time. First time I have known anyone by the name.

JugglingTheBalls · 04/04/2016 16:34

I alway regret not using cassie for my last dc but he was a dsGrin

My granny was Catherine but alway know as Cassie. It's a beautiful name. I don't know of any Cassie s around here.

Nuttypops · 04/04/2016 16:35

Actually, I know another Cassie, she is 25 I think.
