Would you?

Coldtoeswarmheart · 02/04/2016 19:22

No.

pinocchiosnose · 02/04/2016 19:22

Never

Winniethewylde · 02/04/2016 19:23

Yes. I know a Bertie as well and he's super cool.

seven201 · 02/04/2016 19:23

I wouldn't but my friend has an Albert that they call Albie which I think is very cute.

228agreenend · 02/04/2016 19:24

Okay as a nn for Albert or Bertram. Bertie is cool.

Sunshine511 · 02/04/2016 19:29

The trouble is, the 't' at the end often won't be pronounced properly, in all liklihood. I think Bert sounds awful when not said properly. Much nicer when it's said correctly. Same applies to the name Bertie. I think it sounds awful when not said properly. I have a similar sort of name which includes a 't' so I suppose I may just have a complex about it.

sonlypuppyfat · 02/04/2016 19:30

Who on earth looks at a little baby and thinks, I know we'll call him Bert

TVC15 · 02/04/2016 19:32

No.

I don't mind some old man names (and DS has one) but Bert/Bertie are both dreadful.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 02/04/2016 19:42

I wouldn't go for Bert, but I like Bertie. Maybe it's better as a short form though or a NN?

I'd probably register Robert, or Albert and tell everyone he was named Bertie.

Artandco · 02/04/2016 19:45

I like it. I would use Albert, then Bertie/ Bert

AliciaMayEmory · 02/04/2016 19:46

Love it! Blush

AliciaMayEmory · 02/04/2016 19:47

But would probably use Albert and shorten it to Burt.

squoosh · 02/04/2016 21:54

No I wouldn't. Utterly unappealing.

I imagine a Bert as looking like Andy Capp.

Bert?
badg3r · 03/04/2016 00:16

Haha! If you have another you can call him Ernie

Sophronia · 03/04/2016 00:23

Ok short for Robert or Albert

Never ever. It's one of those names where I struggle to find a single thing I like about it.

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/04/2016 00:36

But it cannot be Bertie on the birth cert.
Norbert. Albert. Hubert. Herbert.

In what universe is Norbert a good idea??!!

Grin

NORBERT!

MitzyLeFrouf · 03/04/2016 00:36

And once more for dramatic effect...............NORBERT!

LurkonTAthread · 03/04/2016 00:39

I had an Uncle Bert who was a Cuthbert. He was a lively man.

(And I know a baby Ernie and a 12 year old Ernest)

BettyCrystal · 03/04/2016 00:39

Bert Baxter

Completely agree NOT due a revival!

Artandco · 03/04/2016 07:48

We had Ernie on our list of ds2, he would have been Ernest, with Ernie as nickname

I think Ernest and Albert are fabulous names.

bittapitta · 03/04/2016 07:52

I must live in that kind of area but I know two baby Bertie's! The parents only get compliments. Go for it OP! At least there won't be many judging by this thread!
