The trouble is, the 't' at the end often won't be pronounced properly, in all liklihood. I think Bert sounds awful when not said properly. Much nicer when it's said correctly. Same applies to the name Bertie. I think it sounds awful when not said properly. I have a similar sort of name which includes a 't' so I suppose I may just have a complex about it.

I don't mind some old man names (and DS has one) but Bert/Bertie are both dreadful.

I wouldn't go for Bert, but I like Bertie. Maybe it's better as a short form though or a NN?

I'd probably register Robert, or Albert and tell everyone he was named Bertie.

We had Ernie on our list of ds2, he would have been Ernest, with Ernie as nickname

I think Ernest and Albert are fabulous names.

I must live in that kind of area but I know two baby Bertie's! The parents only get compliments. Go for it OP! At least there won't be many judging by this thread!
