HawkEyeTheNoo really??? That's cool! It's not me though I'm in Greater London area.

Unusual: Gawain, Florian, Merlin, Caspar, etc

For girls: Christabel, Severine, Araminta, Gudrun, Hermione.

All the above fine but I don't like names such as Sky, Wren, Chardonnay, Chantal, Cassidy, Madison, Hawke, Ridley, Casey, etc.

manic some of my favourites are in you first list: especially Xanthe and Verity but along with Henrietta, Cressida, Naomi, Miriam, I don't think they are that unusual. I live Ophelia which I think I unusual.

You almost have my rl name in there too. Exactly why dd was given something simple and classic!

Babykr · 03/04/2016 09:45

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. The only one out of all of those that I like is ophelia, the rest are a tad boring Some other names that I have come across on other posts, Romy, willow, Viola, Evelyn(but is VERY popular at the minute) boys names I am at a total loss! Well, I suppose something will come to me before September Blush

Oooh I love Paloma! orlanda I had forgotten that one, can't use Matilda unfortunately. That is my worry about Willow too, DH loves it but I feel like it is going a bit stale. But I love Evelina, never heard it before.

However I don't think an a sound at the end name will work Sad middle name is long and ends in a and same with the surname

Orlando - I thought for a second that DD's very unusual name was going to be on your list, but it wasn't.

RueDeWakening · 03/04/2016 23:23

It's interesting Manic - lots of the names you've listed above are names of various under 10s that I know (in S London) - Xanthe, Lois, Saskia, Faith, Leonie, Alice, Cecily, Thalia, Effie, Giselle, Alison, Amy, Barbara, and especially Hannah.

CauliflowerBalti · 03/04/2016 23:27

August and Clem for a boy. I love these names.

manicinsomniac · 04/04/2016 12:21

RueDe - yeah, I know those names are in use. I just feel they're quite rare. I have a Xanthe myself. They're all basically names I've heard but either know just one child (say under 16) called it or none. Do you know multiple children with those names? If so, I think the regional choices where I am (rural Bucks) are a little (though not that much) different.

BeaufortBelle · 04/04/2016 12:46

I've recently moved from SW London Boffin and I agree with RueDe. Perhaps not Alison, Amy and Barbara. Certainly Xanthe, Cecily/Celia/Cecilia Verity, Cressida, Saskia, Thalia. The missing name, but perhaps there are just too many is of course Imogen.

BeaufortBelle · 04/04/2016 12:49

Oddly, I detest my very unusual name. DD detests her simple classic name of which there is always another in the year. She at least has a more unusual middle name which she's toying with using when she goes to uni.

BeaufortBelle · 04/04/2016 12:50

Sorry, confused Manic and Boffin. My apologies. It's only a name Blush
