Yes, I'm looking for the Holy Grail of girls names.
I don't want anything popular, nor do I want a frilly, girly unusual name (Seraphina, Elodie, Primrose...) or a way out there OTT name (Honeysuckle, Temperance, Jacintha...)
It has to be classic and strong, but still a name that a little girl would be proud of.
Does it exist?
So far, I'm going along the lines of Miranda, Juliet, Helena...but I don't really love any of them. Any ideas mumsnetters?

strong, timeless, unusual, not poncy were exactly my criteria when I named DD. Here are some of the names i had on my list (including the one we went for which is also my mother's name)

Annaliese
Constance
Christina
Eleanor
Emmeline
Felicity
Iris
Jennifer
Valerie
Verity

pipsicles · 26/03/2016 22:05

Similar criteria here. We went with Charlotte, meaning 'strong' and 'free', meanings to be proud of in our humble opinion! She is shortened to Lottie, which is far more unusual than the usual Charlie (which I hate). The name I have to let go of now (because my third and final baby has just been confirmed a boy) is Felicity - beautiful!

I'm having similar problems naming my second son now!

JudgeJudySheindlin · 26/03/2016 22:06

Can only think of one

Vivienne

Undercooked · 26/03/2016 22:09

We had similar criteria although I was less bothered by whether the names were unusual. We have three daughters: Isobel, Alice and Matilda.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 26/03/2016 22:12

Hannah.

For baby names it's always worth remembering the "what shall we call our kids so they don't get beaten up at school" routine, IMHO.

Lambbone · 26/03/2016 22:13

How about Daphne?

foreverandalways · 27/03/2016 02:01

Arabella.......Alissandra......Sophia........

Tartyflette · 27/03/2016 02:11

I think Maud is due for a revival.
Fits the criteria, IMO, strong, classic, unusual
dammit, forgot about that old poem/song

Sally
Clarice

Georgina

Mclaren37 · 27/03/2016 07:03

My choices would be; Meredith, Madeleine, Margot, Margaret, Nancy, Iris, Elisa, Edie, Jemima, Georgia. (Also Isabelle - popular but perfect IMO).
