Twin name to go with Agnes

This is hypothetical at the moment, but I've come to a compromise with DH that if third baby is twin girls we will name one of them Agnes - his mum's name. I don't like the name Agnes but this is what we've agreed to.

Obviously ideally we won't have twin girls now, but if we do what names would go well?

I think if I were you I'd pick some awful name just to show how much I dislike Agnes. I really don't like it at all, I knew one growing up, fourth child and much longed for girl, known mostly as Aggie. Which is not nice at all!

Plus I don't like children to be called after too close relatives anyway. Middle name Agnes would be a compromise I'd accept. Plus if you don't like a name you don't like it, why suggest a name you know your partner doesn't like and then be upset/annoyed when they remind you that no, they really don't like it!

So I'd probably suggest Hilda, Edna, Gertrude, Mavis, Beryl and Lucretia!

Might he be prepared to compromise with Inez? That's a much nicer name and would still be a bit of a tribute to him mum surely?

The name that comes to my mind is Betty. But only because of the Billy Connelly sketch!

Ha ha RJ, came on here just to see if someone suggested Senga! Was my first thought!

My mums real name is Agnes but she has been called Nancy all her life. Nancy is much nicer than Agnes.

In one of Jilly Coopers books, Agnes gets called Taggy.

Jilly Cooper is well posh n'all!

I love the name Agnes! It breaks up all the Ellie/Eva/Ava/izzie names wonderfully. It was my gran's name and was very much on the list for dd1, dh wasn't keen but dd1 (and dd2) both have granny hipster names.

There is Agnes at nursery w dd1 so if I had got my way there would have been 2 in her class.

Any 'grannie hipster' name suits brilliantly although I think margot, Sadie and Elsie are particularly nice.

Agnes and Dorothea

In some parts of Scotland, Agnes is pronounced 'Annis' (ANN-iss), which I think is rather pretty.

As a name to go with it, I like Dorothea as suggested above, or even Dorothy. Otherwise, what about:
Agnes and Lucy
Agnes and Pernille (Per-nill-ah)
Agnes and Cecily
Agnes and Maud
Agnes and Richenda
