So DH wants to go traditional but I want to be more playful re: DS2 name

We have a very short shortlist for DS2 due on 1st March. DH wants to go with Thomas Edward (Edward is in the family, Thomas or Tom is a good solid name) whereas I want to go with Jasper Edward (bit more playful, will be our last child so why not etc..). Any Jasper fans out there? DS1 is called James so there will be too Js!

i love jasper but jasper and james sounds too much

caspar and james = lovely

stitchglitched · 17/02/2016 18:21

Edward is nicer than Thomas or Jasper.

CPtart · 17/02/2016 19:01

Edward Thomas (if you must use Thomas) in that order.
Dislike Jasper.

sugarplumfairy28 · 17/02/2016 19:06

Sorry I really don't like Thomas, I think it' so mundane. I think Jasper is a nice compromise between uncommon and familiar, don't see a problem with two Js.

NotMyMonkey · 17/02/2016 19:59

I love Thomas, I'd go for Thomas Edward. Casper reminds me of Casper the friendly ghost.

I am not a huge fan of Thomas, although I don't dislike it, but much prefer it to Jasper.

Jasper is slang for wasp, or a dog's name.

NewLife4Me · 17/02/2016 23:23

William or Thomas are the best names ever, so there. Grin

I also like George, Henry, Arthur, Jack, and a few more. Forgot Harry and Edward, phew.

Absolutelyfabulously · 17/02/2016 23:54

Love Thomas and Tom as a nickname, a handsome, classic name!

mathanxiety · 18/02/2016 04:43

I really like Thomas Edward, and Ted as a nn.

StompyFreckles · 18/02/2016 08:46

What about Edward Jasper and call him Ned?

coffeetasteslikeshit · 18/02/2016 08:53

Can't stand the name Jasper for some reason. I don't know why. Also, it's the name for wasps. No-one likes wasps.

SweetSuz · 18/02/2016 09:08

I adore Jasper, DH veto'd it as had a horrid boss by the name. To me its classic, strong, individual, slightly quirky and definitely creative sounding i.e. I'd imagine an author/journalist/artist.

Find Thomas very "meh" and just average.

Liveinthepresent · 18/02/2016 13:57

I will be I am sure the only one to make this association but I know only one Jasper, he has the surname James! He is a great guy - so makes me like the name - en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jasper_James

I am not mad keen on Thomas though as you say it's a solid name.
Also love Edward - but be warned where I live every other child seems to suddenly be Edward nn Teddy !

KatieT12 · 18/02/2016 14:15

Thomas Edward, but the best is Edward Thomas! I really like Edward Smile

ABitAsleep · 18/02/2016 14:30

I don't like Jasper, it just sounds like a posh person's dog's name in my opinion.

Thomas is okay, solid and traditional, but nothing special.

I like Edward, shortened to Eddie. That would be my choice.

Liveinthepresent · 18/02/2016 15:15

Sweetsuz how funny your description sums up the Jasper I know perfectly !

Wait4nothing · 18/02/2016 15:33

Love Edward Jasper and lots of cool nn options!

StDogolphin · 18/02/2016 18:20

Jasper and James, fantastic!

LottieDoubtie · 18/02/2016 18:26

Edward Jasper

Known as Teddy.

Playful for childhood but solid and traditional for when he grows up. Perfect.

IsEatBedThyme · 18/02/2016 19:27

I adore Thomas Edward. Jasper always makes me think of Mr Carrott.

justlikeastar · 19/02/2016 01:46

Absolutely love Thomas - it's popular for a reason!

Jasper is too much with James, I think.

pilates · 19/02/2016 12:43

Thomas Edward
Really dislike Jasper, not sure why.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 19/02/2016 12:47

I like Edward best. You could use Ted or Ned as a nn if you wanted to.
