You may as well ask how is it different to Pug/Pugzley.

If you call your child Pugzley it will certainly be his name but why would you want to give them a comedy name like Pugzley or Buzley?

user1455564583 · 16/02/2016 13:03

No, it's different. Buzz is a name...

Your partner doesn't like Charles or James. He is presenting you with a patently ridiculous comedy name, so that you will then be relieved and look favourably on the name he actually wants.

SuburbanRhonda · 16/02/2016 13:04

Why are you defending it if you've already chosen the name you want (and it's not Buzley, ffs).

user1455564583 · 16/02/2016 13:06

When did I say he didn't like James or Charles? I didn't... He likes them? And because we are still thinking, people do change their minds

Finn / Finley / Finlay have Gaelic roots.

Buzz can be short for Busby, which also has Scottish origins.

Buzley is a surname but it would be a bit, well, odd for a first name.

Nice try OP Grin

Ha Ha Grin
Just when I think there can't be any name that is more ridiculous than the last one suggested, another one comes along!

Mind you, I don't think we've had Fizby yet have we? or Gollum. or supercalifragilisticexpialidocious...

Lots of laughs still to come!

The sad thing is, I'm being serious SadSadSad

You may well feel sad but imagine how sad poor Buzley will be.

Sad x 100

OttiliaVonBCup · 16/02/2016 14:44

I like it.

You need a dongle barrelled surname to go with it.

Woodhill · 16/02/2016 14:45

Buzz Lightyear

Buzzy bee

Not keen, sounds American

user1455564583 · 16/02/2016 14:45

Of course I won't go with it now...

I just thought we had found a 'quirky' name we both agree on!

Guess I'll stick with Charles James and he'll be one of 100 Charlies Sad

Ottilia what has a double barrelled last name got to do with it? Because I assume you're taking the piss...

Because he will have a double barrelled last name.

OP posts:
thebiscuitindustry · 16/02/2016 14:51

There are lots of names that are somewhere in between the very traditional and the very unusual...

squoosh · 16/02/2016 14:55

Surely there's a name out there that you can both agree on that is a bit more exciting than Charlie and a bit less exciting than Buzley?

OttiliaVonBCup · 16/02/2016 14:57

I just thought it sounds like a name that would be wasted without a double barrelled surname that's all.
You're telling me I got it right?

crumpet · 16/02/2016 15:00

Finn has been in use since at least the 3rd century.

I would snigger at Buzley. So would a lot of people. My preference would not be to give a child a name that means they have to suffer the WTF responses throughout their childhood.

ArkATerre · 16/02/2016 15:02

I think it's the 'ee' sound on the end that makes it sound silly. How about Buzford, Buzhope, Buzholme or mix it up a bit with Fitzbuz. They sound much posher.

squoosh · 16/02/2016 15:02

Fitzbuz

Ds is in Y5 and the only one in his school with his name. Dd has encountered only one other child with her name in her school life so far and is at a secondary with 1500 pupils.

Both are classic but not as much used as the Charlie's/James's - which are not bad names either.

Oh please go for Fizz Buzz. Imagine the daily fun when someone decides what the number and multiple of the day will be.

CityFox · 16/02/2016 15:40

I like Fitzbuz too.
