Having had a mixed reaction for Gloria, I'm wondering about Floella.

It is a proper name, although the only one I've ever heard of is Floella Benjamin from play school...

I prefer Gloria.

However, I think there is room in the world for more Floellas!

Babymouse · 21/01/2016 21:56

Sounds like a euphemism for menstruation - sorry.

PooDogMillionaire · 21/01/2016 21:57

Oh god you've just ruined it for me!!!

Babymouse! That was bad.

My immediate thought was Floella Benjamin too. Not heard of any others. I quite like it.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 21/01/2016 22:02

I thought of periods.

Sorry, I can't come out tonight, Floella is visiting

NHKX2 · 21/01/2016 22:02

I had never heard the name, but now I can't undo the menstrual association. I haven't replied to your other thread, but I think Gloria is lovely and refreshing!

Elllicam · 21/01/2016 22:02

I like Gloria.

Gloria is amazing. Please use it!

MrsMichelRouxJr · 21/01/2016 22:04

Agree, sorry. Sounds like drain unblocker or a type of sanitary product.

moreshitandnofuckingredemption · 21/01/2016 22:05

There's only one Floella. For me it would be like calling your DD Madonna or Cher or something. But I am 42 so bang in the age zone, you may not find younger types have the same associations!

DancingDinosaur · 21/01/2016 22:07

It made me think of periods too. Sorry :-(

wonkylampshade · 21/01/2016 22:07

I like Gloria too!

PooDogMillionaire · 21/01/2016 22:09

Sadly DH had vetoed Floella, he said it reminds him of butter or a cross between flow and Cinderella

LordOfMisrule · 21/01/2016 22:11

Loo unblocker.

Footle · 21/01/2016 22:22

I knew a delicious baby Gloria , far away and long ago, child of a tailor in an African market. She used to sit on her Dad's sewing machine table, modelling small beautiful dresses. I've always liked the name since then.
Hope this helps !

Sophronia · 21/01/2016 22:24

Gloria is lovely. Not keen on Floella.

SanityClause · 21/01/2016 22:27

There used to be an ad on Australian television for a kind of extra strong soap, called Solvol. It starred a brother and sister called Geoffrey and Gloria.

That's what Gloria reminds me of.

Floella sounds like a disease or a micro-organism to me.

Lizziedripping1 · 21/01/2016 22:47

I just thought of Floella Benjamin...but she was lovely

Gloria always makes me think of 1960s kitchen sink dramas...but not many young ones around now

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 21/01/2016 23:00

My immediate thought was tampons I'm afraid

nellyflora · 21/01/2016 23:08

Floella Benjamin I loved her as a small child. Would be very disappointed to meet a floella without blue beads in her hair but that's just my generation. As a name it's just been horribly ruined by the previous poster 😳.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 21/01/2016 23:09

What about Sylvia?

BooAvenue · 21/01/2016 23:17

Honestly? It reminds me of the name of a cream you might use to cure an intimate issue.

candykane25 · 21/01/2016 23:18

Luella?

GiddyGiddyGoat · 21/01/2016 23:20

Glory - I've always loved that name. If not then Gloria.
