Roselle

Hi :) we have a DD, due in March. I'm getting a bit fed up of all the popular names - I used to love them! I was looking at flower/plant names and Roselle came up - what do you think? :)

It fits DH's favourite name (Rosie - he isn't keen on Rose/Rosa) and mine! (I like Ellie/Ella)... I just really like it, so does DH :)

Roselle makes me think of scented toilet roll for some reason.

I like Rosella though.

I don't like it - sounds like a cleaning product.

It reminds me of Rozalla who used to sing some 'bangin' choons' in the early 90s. I can't say I'm overly keen on Roselle but if you both love it........!

I love Rosella! It's a name of a small, very pretty colourful Australian parrot- I saw one there in 2004 and have loved the name ever since, didn't quite have the guts to use it for DD and have never heard of another.

What about Rosanna? We've chosen it as a middle name if this baby turns out to be a girl x

I used to know a Rozelle - I like it. :)

Is sounds like a skin cream or a brand of loo roll.

Thanks for the comments! Rosabel is really nice, but DH doesn't like Rosa and it's quite strong in that name! Rosanna is nice too, but I know an Anna and she isn't nice, so that would put me off :( I also would like to get my liked name in there! Which I do, with Roselle/Rosella!

Rosina only has the Rosie bit that my DH likes :)

I'm not a fan, although it sounds like your mind is made up.
Do you not think it would be confusing for your dd if daddy calls her Rosie and mummy calls her Ellie? I think if I were in your shoes I'd be trying to find a totally different name my DH and I could agree on.

I will call her Rosie - it's at the start of her name, so probably what most people would go for! I'd say the whole name, most of the time, anyway! :)

Astrid is nice. Roselle sounds like an Avon perfume.

Roselle sounds like an ointment. Why not Ella Rose? Though I do love Rosie, v pretty. Rosalind?

I think Astrid might be better for the middle, if I was to use it... Rosalie - is that said as Rose - ah - lee?

Anything with 'Rose' or 'Ella' will be shortened to a popular diminutive. Rosella is pretty, but if you're looking for less unpopular I'd go for an non 'rose' name.

Not a fan of Roselle (it does sound like a toiletry product). I like the suggestion of Rosalie.
