Weird or Pretty?

Really contemplating 'Silver' for DC3, not sure of spelling - Silver, Sylva or Silva?

Is it pretty and unusual or just weird and therefore setting DD up for lifetime of teasing/judgement?

If you must use it, at least spell it properly. don't use it though

mudandmayhem01 · 26/12/2015 00:04

I know a boy called Silver, cute for a child, not sure if it works for an adult, prefer Sylvie or Sylvia for a girl.

ThoughtfulPenny · 26/12/2015 00:06

It's awful. But agree with pp if you do use it, definitely spell it properly!

eastwest · 26/12/2015 00:09

I think Silvana is an Italian name... dunno about Silva.

exWifebeginsat40 · 26/12/2015 00:14

it's Portuguese isn't it? a surname I mean - da Silva?

CakeRattleandRoll · 26/12/2015 00:44

Silvana is a Spanish name. Or use Sylvie / Sylvia.

Silver would make me want to say "High-ho Silver!" but that is a pretty old reference!

Lucy90 · 26/12/2015 09:05

How about Sylvia?

Wishfulmakeupping · 26/12/2015 09:07

Reminds me of Sliver from 90210.
Not my type if name but I don't dislike it.

LettuceLaughton · 26/12/2015 09:26

Sylvia / Sylvia / Silvana or somesuch with the nn Silver would be rather nice.
Silver on its own might be a bit limiting for a person. In any case the cre8tiv spellings are just dreadful.

Figgygal · 26/12/2015 09:27

Lifetime of piss taking I'm afraid

MamaLazarou · 26/12/2015 09:39

I like Silver a lot.

ScarlettDarling · 26/12/2015 09:42

We know a Sylvie which I think is lovely, but Silver is just odd.

glitterinmyeyes · 26/12/2015 09:43

Can't say I really get the appeal of having a colour for a name.

What about-

Arian/a
Eirian
Chrysanta
Eurwen
Kim
Oria
Sona
Gina
Simin
Gweir

Various names meaning gold and silver?

Doublebubblebubble · 26/12/2015 09:45

I'm not keen first thing I thought of was Silverfish, dont know why if you like it though I agree with pp spell it properly x

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/12/2015 09:47

I'm not keen and would definitely look in to names which mean silver, as suggested by a pp.

Arian?

Lindor · 26/12/2015 09:47

Sylviane - French version? could be shortened to various Silv- things

MizK · 26/12/2015 09:48

If you like it, use it! I would probably spell it Silver as that's what everybody will assume when you say it.

It isn't my favourite but it is a pretty word and I have no idea why anyone would tease or judge her about it?

Oysterbabe · 26/12/2015 09:59

I think it's weird rather than pretty.
Agree with others, if you do it spell it correctly.

WeThreeMythicalKings · 26/12/2015 10:10

Weird

originalmavis · 26/12/2015 10:13

Hi ho...

CandlesAreBurning · 26/12/2015 10:13

Just use it, at spelt silver or Silva. Welsh has plenty of names for colours, and if you're a welsh speaker, you are just calling the child a colour, so it's all good

HackerFucker22 · 26/12/2015 12:28

Not a fan, but if you use it spell it properly.

We have Spanish relatives through marriage and Da Silva is their family name.

Strokethefurrywall · 26/12/2015 12:43

I know an adult Silva - shes of Armenian descent. It's really pretty and she's not had a lifetime of piss taking either...

BikeRunSki · 26/12/2015 13:03

Silva is the name of a company that makes compasses and other outdoor survival equipment. They are market leaders and well known in outdoorsy/military circles.
