help us pick a girl name - Arusha or Rhea

Please could you help us choose from these two - Arusha or Rhea for a girl?

Going on the Google test, Arusha is a city and region in Tanzania.

Rhea is a big bird.

I'm going with Arusha on that basis.

I just hear "A rush" with the other one - like you're telling her to hurry up! It's a pretty sound but no for that reason.

Rheas are lovely creatures and I'm afraid instead of picturing the Greek mythological daughter of Gaia, I do see an ostrich-like creature in my head.

Arusha I had no idea was a name for a human. It's in Tanzania isn't it?

Arusha has Sanskrit origins and Rhea also has Sanskrit / Hindu spelling beside the Greek one which looks like a giant bird! Perhaps Riya? Which is the Sanskrit spelling....

Rhea reminds me of Urea, sorry.

Rhea is "rear" or a big ostrich thing to me, so I'm not a fan.

Rhia sounds like 'rear' to me so I don't like it. I've been to Arusha and it was very pretty, never thought of it as a name, but I really like it.

There must be something wrong with your hearing.

Though Arusha isnt a name I'd chose because the first thing thing I think of is the city in Tanzania.

Arusha sounds nothing like arse!
Rhea is my favourite of the 2 but prefer the spelling Ria.

The other name on our list is Mila.

Do like Rhea and Mila but from the sounds of it we may need to re-think the Rhea spelling!

And yes to cultural connection...would like an Anglo/Indian inbetween name

I spent 9 hours sitting on a suitcase in Arusha airport once. Flight was cancelled in the end, and we had to travel with 50 other people on a 12 seater minibus to Kilamanjaro airport instead with all our bags on the roof. Not helpful I know but the thread title brought back memories!

In an effort to be helpful, I know a Rhea. She's lovely and very intelligent. And never struck me as an odd name!

Rhea or Ria as its pronounced where I live in the ME can sound quite hard when being pronounced.
