I have heard mutterings about another daughter being Topaz or Jezebel.

Nooooo. You can't call a girl Jezebel. That is too awful.

chocolatechip123 · 05/08/2015 17:08

I like Grace. I also like Sylvie/a. Not sure about lo-lo-lo-lo-lolah.

StrangeGlue · 05/08/2015 17:10

It a name I've heard a lot - dunno if that bothers you. It's fine but a bit cutesy/little girly for my personal taste.

DirtyDeedsD0neDirtCheap · 05/08/2015 21:55

Nemo81

you may think my daughters name is "nasty" and "common" but you are a nasty snobby cunt for saying it

"Common". Vile Hmm

bestguess23 · 05/08/2015 22:33

Dirty that was rude and unnecessary. Nemo has an opinion on a name, I'm sure you have opinions on many other names. It's your DD's name and presumably you love it so it doesn't matter. Peace all, personal attacks really aren't necessary.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2015 00:05

Dirty

You're not exactly bathing yourself in glory here yourself.

chocolatechip123 · 06/08/2015 08:34

I hate that word. Absolytelt unnecessary.

CheersMedea · 06/08/2015 08:42

DirtyDeeds - it wasn't me who said Lexi was common but really using language like a "nasty snobby cunt" merely in response to a perfectly reasonable and personal opinion about a name is unbelievably lacking in class - and strikingly common.

Lexi is a bit chavvy though - like most names given as an abbreviated version, overly shortened, or spelt in a "trendy" or non-classical way! Alexandra would be the more sophisticated choice, followed by Alexia. I also really can't bear any of that Jayceson/Aimee/Cydnee type stuff.

So sorry - I kind of agree with Nemo81.

BikeRunSki · 06/08/2015 08:47

To be fair to everyone called Aimee though Cheers, that is the correct spelling of the French word from which the name originates (beloved). "Amy" is the anglicised spelling.

WeirdCatLady · 06/08/2015 08:52

Sorry OP but my first thought on Lola was 'sounds like a stripper'.

Grace is lovely though, mind you, I'm biased on that one.

CheersMedea · 06/08/2015 09:10

I know that Bike - but the French version has an acute accent on the e and that's fair enough. I'm talking about the chavvy-spelling-it-trendy-loike!

CheersMedea · 06/08/2015 09:11

*an acute accent on the first e.

musicalendorphins2 · 06/08/2015 09:18

My opinions on Lola and Nancy? I prefer Lola, but would name her Laila or Lauren or Laura, then nick name her Lola. Nancy I just don't care for. If you like frilly names how about Lacey or

Roomba · 06/08/2015 09:30

My friend's daughter is called Lola Grace - she's 11m old. It's lovely (as is she).

In my DS's class at school, there are twin girls called Lola and Grace.

Alisvolatpropiis · 06/08/2015 23:26

To be fair Cheers - Alexia is a medical condition meaning loss/lack of speech. I'd take Lexi over that any day.

Mind Amelia means loss/lack of limbs in medical terminology and that hasn't put many off. It put me off in a big way.

MrBsMrsB · 07/08/2015 14:52

The name Lola is gorgeous and has some beautiful meanings in a few other languages. Combined with 'Grace' I think you have a winner

ColeslawSandwich · 07/08/2015 15:02

The only thing I would say is that there are a lot of girls who are four or younger called Lola at the moment.

Not many people are aware of each other's middle names so You could choose any name you like.

florascotia · 07/08/2015 20:41

'They call me naughty Lola...' was sung by Marlene Dietrich in the 1930s, so the showgirl associations go back a long way, for good or ill. There is a version on YouTube:

It was also the title of a book about the famous and fabulous Lonely Hearts column in the London Review of Books www.goodreads.com/book/show/98686.They_Call_Me_Naughty_Lola

Also, Lola and Lolita are both short forms of Dolores, as others have said. And Lolita has rather been tarnished by the novel.

cashewnutty · 07/08/2015 21:07

I like Lola Grace. Our DD is Rebecca Grace. The Grace part is a link to our eldest DD who died and is in no way a 'filler' middle name.

SockPinchingMonster · 07/08/2015 23:05

I love the name Lola ( may be slightly biased though as I have one Grin ) . Grace goes very well with it too, both names together sound lovely.
I wouldn't worry too much about what other people think, just go with what you like. Some people here may think Lola sounds like a strippers name - I think it sounds beautiful. Some people here have suggested names such as Lydia or Louisa - sound very grannyish and boring to me but each to their own. World would be a boring place if we all liked the same thing.

nemo81 · 08/08/2015 15:57

I might be a "snobby cunt" dirty but you have made yourself sound like a chav. Grin

yummymango · 09/08/2015 11:57

What about Gracey as a middle name, very similar but not as overused as Grace. Lola Gracey sounds nice.

musicalendorphins2 · 10/08/2015 08:10

The name Lola Grace has grown on me since you first posted it. Smile

DavetheCat2001 · 19/08/2015 23:53

Lola is a beautiful name

mrsleomcgary · 23/08/2015 12:35

I really like it,has a bit of a 60s vibe to it (probably because of the song) but doesnt make me think of a stripper or prostitute.

But that said I have an Isla Grace which is pretty similar!
