What do you think of Marie as a first name?

Am due soon and still undecided. I think Marie (pronounced the French way) is so sweet, clam, classy and feminine and I like that it doesn't end with an 'a'.
Can't think why it's not used more. Is it just seen as very plain?
One thing that might bother me later on is that there are so many variations, Mary, Marion, Mariska, Mariella etc and all the double names, and of course it's used often as a middle name.
Anybody on here perhaps called Marie? What are your expreriences?

Thanks for your opinions.

I know one who has another French name as a MN but with no hyphen -- the combination was supposed to be used together and she began to do this in her late teens. I love it. Simple and sweet in a French way, and not dated but a classic, imo.

I would pronounce it muh-REE.
