what are some unusual names that you love? That you may not ever be brave enough to actually use but "secretly" love?

Mine is Brigitta..I have loved it since I first saw The Sound of Music when I was 7! Not sure I could ever use it but I on the down-low really like it. I also like Vera and considered using it but did not get one positive feedback about it..boo!

Bronte, Isadora & Elspeth for a girl and Atticus

A few years ago ds was in a class in school with one each of these!

Caspian, Lior, Ianto, Seraphina. It wasn't just DH vetoing though, I said no to his suggestions of Aisling and Uisdean. Ended up with something fairly safe for DD, that still gets pronounced incorrectly anyway!

Names from the fantasy list I had with DD3. I went with Xanthe in the end which I guess is fairly unusual (compare to my other DDs anyway) but would never have dared pick any of these:

Fancy:
Araminta, Angelica, Calista, Cressida, Evangeline, Ekaterina, Electra, Fenella, Isadora, Jocasta, Octavia, Peronelle, Persephone, Seraphina

Names that would be fine if DD3 was from that culture/country:
Aaliyah, Anoushka, Alessandra, Amina, Alba, Aya, Fionnhuala, Giselle, Mika, Mila, Malaika, Petrova, Priya, Sorcha, Tatiana, Xanthippe, Yesenia, Zipporah

'Out there' (on reflection, I would have used some of these):
Aphra, Arya, Avery, Aubrey, Addison, Briar, Blue, Camryn, China, Devon, Dakota, Effie, Etta, Enya, Fallon, Genesis, Gypsy, Harper, Hadley, Indigo, Isis, Jessamy, Juniper, Journey, Kiki, Keltie, Kendall, Kenya, Lorelai, Lyric, Myla, Mala, Misty, Nia, Nyah, Ocean, Piper, Quinn, River, Rain, Riva, Romy, Saffron, Sorrell, Star, Story, Veda, Zia, Zillah

Wanted Forest, but no one could say it without adding 'run' to it - shame as I still love this name and sad that I bowed to peer pressure.

I love Isa/Iza for a girl but it just reminds DH of the annoying woman from Still Game

Elllimam · 14/07/2015 21:31

I love thorfinn Smile

Unoriginalusername123 · 14/07/2015 22:15

Calista - a gorgeous name with a lovely meaning and cute nickname with Callie.

Unfortunately I suspect everyone would add 'Flockhart' to the name...

manicinsomniac · 14/07/2015 22:33

Isadora - Grin whichever your real name is, it's beautiful!

Ludways · 14/07/2015 22:40

Septimus, I had a very old and brilliant great uncle, called Uncle Sep. I love it but it's a name for the seventh son so I was never going to use it.
Swainston, my great granddad.
Seth
Savannah

I guess I like S names.

Ludways · 14/07/2015 22:42

Oh and Verner, which goes against my s name thing, although I've thought of Sadie too

SingingSands · 14/07/2015 22:42
