What do you think when you hear the name Milo?

Just wondering what you all think of it? Considering it for DC2 arriving in a couple of weeks, DS1 has a 'grandad' type name.

That it's very current and faddy, and will date.

I don't dislike the name at all, but I would not give it now. I might choose Miles instead. Miles seems less "trendy" and is timeless, and you can still have Milo as a nn.

Having said that, there's no way of knowing if Miles will take off in a faddy way, but this is always a risk!

I really don't understand how it's faddy. It's a classic name that's been around for a long time. It is not a derivation of Miles - it is a name in its own right. In Ireland, in 2013 (the year of my son's birth) there were only just over 36 Milos registered - as opposed to 764 Jacks. I know that I certainly would prefer my son to be the only Milo in the class, rather than one of 4 Jacks!

Tweenies. It's a cute name though.

also 'Milosevic' - Serbian name of someone I knew, who we called 'Milo'. He was nice, so a good association!

It is faddy because a lot of people seem to be choosing it now, whereas it has never been particularly popular before. A name that has "been around for a long time" can still be faddy at a particular time.

And sorry, but it is a variant form of Miles. That does not mean it isn't a valid name, any more than Andrew is more valid than André, Anders, Andrea etc.

I like it. It does remind me of tweenies, but so what? Tweenies is an old program now.

I like it feels strong and simple and recognisable and spellable and works for child and adult.

How strange that it has such strong associations with the tweenies, a show that seemed oldish to me when I had my first child seven years ago, and also has a jake and a Bella, both fairly well used. I doubt any current child being born will grow up with the tweenies being a big part of their childhood.

Also, try hard? That seems code for not utterly dull on here as far as boys names are concerned so I'd consider it a bonus, op.

It's not on my list but I do think it sounds nice enough.

I'm from southern Europe and lived in Australia for many years, so for me it's unthinkable to name a baby after a chocolate milk drink

Milo's a lovely name. Dog/cat references are just so dull, would never take any notice of anyone who comments like this, people call dogs 100000's of names, so what if you've happened to have heard of 1 called Milo...I haven't.

Yeah, but Milo is a Slavic name. People in Russia and Ukraine etc etc call themselves "Milo" because it's short of Miloslav. Plus if you listen to anything Polish, or Russian, you will always hear "Milo" prop up. I'm not sure what it means in Russian or Polish, but It could be their name. I knew a kid called Milo, some old man heard it, and said to him "Are you Slav?" He replied "No of course I'm not" He said "Why?" He said.. "Milo is a Slav name"

I like it but I do know a few dogs with the name like you said!

When it first seemed to rise in popularity a few years ago it did just remind me of the tweenies but I do still like it
