And yes, I'm expecting a few 'it's a dog' responses!

Just wondering what you all think of it? Considering it for DC2 arriving in a couple of weeks, DS1 has a 'grandad' type name.

Thanks!

Phantom Tollbooth. Surprised to be in the minority!

Twunk · 03/07/2015 22:14

My 7 year old.

I love the name obviously

loveisenough · 03/07/2015 22:16

I k now a 14 year old Milo - I like the name. When he w as small it was Tweenies on CBBC but I wouldn't think of that now

Sophronia · 03/07/2015 23:07

Yep, dog, or middle class try-hard.

tidalwaveover · 03/07/2015 23:17

Catch 22.

I love it.

ashtrayheart · 03/07/2015 23:20

My dog.

Hi op, a colleague recently named their ds2 milo and it really suits him. However. Our ds1 has a one syllable name, followed by traditional similar to your Edward name. Dd has classic girls names. Ds2 has traditional names. Ds1 now 8, isn't sure he likes his first name now as people lengthen it with ie - think similar to max-ie. He would prefer to be known by his more traditional Middle name - think eg thomas or Tom. So if your ds1 has traditional names you might want to keep similar incase they're aware in the future how different their names are?? I might just be talking rubbish in which case of course ignore me Smile but I feel sad for ds1 now that he's not sure if he even likes his name due to playground teasing, and it's not even a wildly out there name. Especially now we have ds2 with two very traditional names. He seems aware his first name is not as traditional.

And I don't mean the usual does this name sound right with the sibling name, just thinking from your children's point of view.

A friend used the name Miles for her son recently, which has really grown on me and seems less precious than Milo.

Yes, either dog or the tweenies I'm afraid. Mostly Dog.
I think Miles is much nicer.

OwlAtEase · 04/07/2015 02:53

Immediately makes me think of the drink, but I am Australian. I like it as a name regardless, but also really like Edward.

NurNochKurzDieWeltRetten · 04/07/2015 06:57

Tidal how can you love it when you associate it with the Catch 22 character? He was an amoral sociopath. .. Or am I overly influenced by associations? :o I like the 'sound' of Milo and one syllable names generally, but catch 22 puts me off Milo...

NurNochKurzDieWeltRetten · 04/07/2015 07:02

In a similar viewI was stunned by the popularity of Jude a few years ago given the hhorrible lifeof Jude the Obscure. ..

Bellejournee · 04/07/2015 08:24

I really like it!

spad · 04/07/2015 08:28

Yeah, milk drink. Sorry!

sweetpeame · 04/07/2015 08:34

I know 3 under about 3 years old. I don't mind it but it is a bit "try hard" and I think it will become dated in time. In saying that I did consider the name Miles for my newly born DS but went off it on the end.

afreshstartplease · 04/07/2015 08:36

Tweenies

Call him Ted / teddy

Lulabellarama · 04/07/2015 08:38

There's two in my son's class

fiftyshadesofgrot · 04/07/2015 08:38

Barbara Woodhouse - "sit!", "walkies".

MamaLazarou · 04/07/2015 08:40

NurNochKurtzDieWeltRetten - I know what you mean about Jude! It's got to be one of the saddest, most miserable stories ever written! I feel the same way about Ethan - it just makes me think about poor, poor Ethan Frome (brilliant book but a bit depressing)!

DakotaFanny · 04/07/2015 08:46

Ted is an awesome name.

Aussiemum78 · 04/07/2015 08:46

Mmmm milo. On icecream.

slippermaiden · 04/07/2015 08:48

Tweenies or a hot chocolatey drink!
