Why no Richards?

I like the name Richard. I have never met a Richard I don't like. Why ar eno babies called this any more? Is it due a resurgence?

Because there are already enough dicks in the world?

I don't know. Possibly because of the nn Dick?

I quite like the name Peter but don't hear of any. There should be more baby Peters.

It reminds me of a slightly overweight, 45 year old who works in IT.

Dick, Peter, Percy and Ralph are all far too penisy and should be avoided.

I know a baby Peter. And a baby Ian.

Thing is I know many Richards and none are known as Dick. They are al over 30 though.

My uncle loves his name. He is and always has been a Dick! Now aged 84 everyone who he doesn't know calls him Mr S. Which also pleases him. (He is actually a very nice man).

Where I grew up the kids called dog poos "richards", I don't know why, unless it's because Richard the Third rhymes with turd. And yes, because "Dick".

It'll be the Dick association. Agree about Peter and Percy being penisy too.

I know a 3 year old Richie, that's his full name though.

It's not just the Dick thing - it's also the whole Eastenders thing - RRICCKAHYYYY!

And DS3 has it as a middle name after my lovely step father.

There is a little boy in Year 1 at DS2's school called Richard after his Dad but he's the only one under 30 that I know of. Similarly I also know a baby Brian and don't know anyone else young with that name (or Peter, Percy, Dick or Ian)

Rich/Richey is the name of a dodgy car salesman.

It's a bit 60s-70s, so it will be back soon... along with Stephen, David, Robert, Andrew, Anthony. Sort of classics, but also associated with the last era before it would have occurred to anyone to name their baby Arlo or Finn, when the most 'out there' it got was Wayne or Dean

Trotting alongside them will be the Karens, Claires, Louises, Carolines, Deborahs and Jennifers :)

It's making its way back with Clive and Geoffrey. They'll get here eventually.

I know several DCs with classic names such as Peter, David, Andrew, Robert, Stephen, John and Michael...but no Richards. Don't know why - it's a lovely name.

My brother is a Richard. Never been known as Dick. Never even thought about him being called Dick... It is an 80's name, though and will probably come round in a couple of generations.

DS has a Peter and a Nigel in his class.

I know a 7 year old Richard and he is fab, he's one of DD1's friends and is one of the loveliest boys I know. I think it's a great name.
