Is George 'Posh'

TravellingToad · 13/06/2015 21:02

DH refuses to consider George because it's "posh"

We already have Henry & James, to put this in context.

Is George posh (or posher than H&J?) all...vote... NOW!

(thank you)

No posher than Henry or James! They're all the same level of poshness IMO Smile. All lovely names.

Magicalmrmistofeles · 13/06/2015 21:05

Nope,very not posh.

grabaspoon · 13/06/2015 21:05

I think Henry is quite posh but all 3 names definitely work together.

tryingtocatchthewind · 13/06/2015 21:08

Looking at the recent Georges I would have said quite the opposite

tryingtocatchthewind · 13/06/2015 21:08

#i know

hawkmcqueen · 13/06/2015 21:09

I see Henry as posh but James and George as transcending class barriers!

tsonlyme · 13/06/2015 21:09

It's blmmin' royal. How posh were you hoping to go?

TravellingToad · 13/06/2015 21:18

tsonlyme well I like traditional names, but DH wants a traditional name that isn't 'posh' and he feels that george is posh...

Traditional and 3 lovely boys names. I have a nephew who is George my sil is definitely not posh! Just 'normal modern'

crapfatbanana · 13/06/2015 21:24

Henry, James and George are all Royal names.

What about Darren? Grin

ShatnersBassoon · 13/06/2015 21:28

No, it's one of those names that gives nothing away about the person. George could be anything from a pot washer to a High Court judge.

ShadowFire · 13/06/2015 21:32

Not posh.

I'd say it's traditional and classless. A George would be a normal and unremarkable name for a baby from any and all levels of society. It fits very well with Henry and James.

miffybun73 · 13/06/2015 21:38

I see Henry as much "posher" than George or James.

morethanpotatoprints · 13/06/2015 21:41

To put into context we wouldn't have chosen Henry or james as too posh for us or so we thought.
However we did consider George but in the end opted for another name as georgie Porgie rhyme was not what we wanted to hear coming from th playground.
I think it's a lovely name but we weren't brave enough Sad

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 13/06/2015 21:42

George is way less posh than Henry!!

morethanpotatoprints · 13/06/2015 21:43

harry, Thomas william Edward Theodore are all traditional names.

findingherfeet · 13/06/2015 21:44

Henry is a posh name IMO. All nice names, George is fab.

Cloggal · 13/06/2015 21:46

Henry is posh. George and James are classless.

DampAndRotten · 13/06/2015 21:48

In order of poshness I'd say

Henry
George
James

VivaLeBeaver · 13/06/2015 21:49

i think its a normal name. My builder is called George and I never thought ooh, he has a posh name. Not that builders can't be posh, I'm sure they can, mine isn't!

It's not like Tarquin or Montgommery.....Id say they're posher than George.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/06/2015 21:50

The three together are a bit Thomas the tank engine.

TravellingToad · 13/06/2015 22:22

Noarmani is George in Thomas the tank engine?? Never seen it or read the books.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/06/2015 22:28

Yeah he's the steamroller

cece · 13/06/2015 22:28

Yes all 3 are Thomas the Tank Engine names but they do go very well together. I agree Henry is posh. George and James both classless.

Sophronia · 13/06/2015 22:29

It's just a normal name, I agree that Henry is more posh than George and James.
