I love this name but get some Hmm looks when I mention it.

Would appreciate some opinions.

It's ok. I prefer Delphine. Or Delphi.

DramaAlpaca · 23/05/2015 22:42

Daphne has really grown on me in the last couple of years. I absolutely love it.

Also love Delphine.

peltata · 23/05/2015 22:43

It's lovely go for it. Can't go wrong with classical Greek goddesses and fragrant flowers

MrsBungle · 23/05/2015 22:45

I can't get on with the name daphne personally. I just think daphne broon. It seems frumpy to me. But, lots of people on here seem to love be it.

meandjulio · 23/05/2015 22:46

Daphne is a great name, having been in the deep freeze for a generation or too. The last time someone asked about it on here I thought that you would still need to be fairly cool to pull it off, but I think it's becoming relatively more mainstream now. I like it because the sound itself is really pretty and because it's a truly classic name. I also know a wonderful Daphne.

meandjulio · 23/05/2015 22:46

FFS - generation or two

Allthatnonsense · 23/05/2015 22:55

Growing on me too.

Brambles34 · 24/05/2015 05:56

My little girl is going to have daphne as a middle name

DiDiddlyIDi · 24/05/2015 06:05

Reminds me of Daphne on Neighbours 20+ years ago. Bit dated IMHO

KoalaDownUnder · 24/05/2015 06:25

I don't dislike it, but it has a 'ditzy and daffy' vibe to it. Probably from Daphne on Neighbours, actually!

I love Dahlia, though.

TheBananaFaceOfEvil · 24/05/2015 06:37

I love it and would've used it, but I had sons in the end.

JuniorMint · 24/05/2015 06:39

One of the daughters on Nashville is called Daphne (she's about 10?), the actresses real name is Maisy.

sweetpeame · 24/05/2015 07:07

Don't particularly like it, it sounds quite dated to me. It is having a comeback though, I know 2 Daphne's under 1 year old. Previously I'd never met any Daphne's in real life!!

chocfireguard · 24/05/2015 07:20

Really pretty name that will grow with her Smile

IsItStupid · 24/05/2015 10:05

I quite like it! Classic name. Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/05/2015 10:06

I love it!

hollyisalovelyname · 24/05/2015 10:09

No

DeidreChambersWhatACoincidence · 24/05/2015 10:27

I immediately think of Jack Lemmon in Some Like It Hot. Who was brilliant of course but maybe not the ideal first thought. So um maybe a no for me.

Slavetominidictator · 24/05/2015 13:26

I love it. I know a little one, also known as Daffers.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/05/2015 13:42

I like it because it's a strong yet very pretty, feminine name. First thought is Daphne DDM.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 24/05/2015 13:42

DM I mean, not DDMGrin

TempsPerdu · 24/05/2015 17:13

Really like it - it's been barely used for a while and feels quite fresh again now. I think of Daphne DM and Greek myths (nice plant association, even though the myth itself is quite a sad one!) Also has a similar sound to other more popular names like Chloe, Phoebe and Zoe, so fits in well with those. I say go for it!

Kittykatmacbill · 24/05/2015 19:34

Love it dh wasn't having any of it though

MyNameIsSuz · 25/05/2015 06:58

I love it! I know a little Daphne, when she was a baby it always got great reactions (positive I mean).

LouisaB1990 · 25/05/2015 16:20

I love daphne it's lovely not too common but it's not too unusual be careful though kids are cruel she could be called Daffy Duck!! But I think it's beautiful xx
