We liked it with dd1 & dd2 but nevet used it. Family say we'd regret not using it again.
But were unsure as you can see from previous thread we like Alice and Annie too. Annie we have liked with dd1&2 also. Alice is a fairly new like.

My dd is a Daisy Smile
At playgroup, with her blonde pigtails, it was cute.
In her tweens, with black and red hair, it was cool.
She's now at uni doing a maths degree Smile

I wouldn't judge someone's intelligence by their name I am not daft. But generally it does have an impact on how you are perceived - utterly unfair but true. I want to give my girls names that would see them through - life's hard enough particularly for women without giving them uber feminine girlish names. You can rail against it all you like but that is my opinion and I won't change it.

My name is Poppy. I can't say that it makes my life any harder Hmm

Yes I can see where youre coming from but Daisy is a name that has been around for years. There are older woman namrd Daisy and its not neccessarily short for anything. Its not a silly made up name like some.
doesnt matter now anyway as weve decided on Matilda x

Had a guinea pig called this

LeoandBoosmum · 22/05/2015 17:56

Makes me think of a cow, sorry.

DarkHeart · 22/05/2015 23:58

love it!

villainousbroodmare · 23/05/2015 00:10

"Daisy, Daisy, give me your boobs to chew..." is the opening line of the army version of the old song, can never get it out of my head. To me it's a pet's name.

TaytoCrisp · 23/05/2015 00:21

Very nice. Don't know any.

bumblebeeee · 23/05/2015 02:32

Awfully sickly sweet.

Iris?

SoldierBear · 23/05/2015 07:35

I love it.
Much nicer than Annie which is just dull
Looking forward to the day when names no longer conjure up prejudices about gravitas or class. If you can accept Governor of the Bank of England Eddie George why is it such a stretch to envisage Daisy or Jayden in the same role?

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2015 08:18

"Looking forward to the day when names no longer conjure up prejudices about gravitas or class."

Me too. Not happening any time soon, though. Sad

SheThinksShesPeople · 23/05/2015 09:23

My name is Poppy. It was an unusual name when I was young. It's never stopped me being successful or being taken seriously Confused

SanityClause · 23/05/2015 09:29

I really dislike it. I think it sounds twee.

SanityClause · 23/05/2015 09:32

Oh, sorry, should have RTFT!

I like Matilda. Resourceful, strong, determined, intelligent. That's a good name for a girl!

Anotheronesoon · 23/05/2015 09:38

Love your name choices! Daisy is pretty-I have a niece called daisy and when told her name I did initially think cow but very soon loved it. I love love love alice- if my boys had been girls would have used it definately. And anna/ Annie is a favourite also but have three in our close family already!
For what it's worth I think alice is a slightly "stronger" name than daisy which is more " cutesy".

BertrandRussell · 23/05/2015 11:15

I just don't think "pretty" should be the main criterion for a girl's name. Particularly when Mumsnet is full of people looking for "strong" boy's names..........

JillBYeats · 23/05/2015 11:18

It was DD's name for the first 3 days - then I changed it because two people made comments about it being a cow's name Hmm don't know why I didn't just ignore them - 15 years on DD and I think it's a lovely name and she is sorry I didn't stick with it. I now realise that people will always always find something negative to say about a name.

SunnyBaudelaire · 23/05/2015 11:19

I think it sounds twee as well sanity.
It would be OK for a hen or a cow.

FeijoaSundae · 23/05/2015 11:35

It lacks substance.

BeautifulStars93 · 23/05/2015 13:27

Cant have Iris its one of dd1 middle namesx

BumpAndGrind · 23/05/2015 13:32

It's lovely, as long as your surname isn't Hayes.

loveisagirlnameddaisy · 23/05/2015 13:32

Well, I love it but am biased. Smile

Vevvie · 23/05/2015 13:43

Daisy's a lovely name! I think of flowers not animals.

Not really keen on Matilda, quite like Tillie, though.

swancourt · 26/05/2015 13:48

I find the argument that you won't be able to carry off a pretty name if you're clever really spurious. There's a newsreader called Daisy Buchanan. Doesn't affect the way anybody listens to her reporting. And pretty and clever, or pretty and serious, are not mutually exclusive.
