We liked it with dd1 & dd2 but nevet used it. Family say we'd regret not using it again.
But were unsure as you can see from previous thread we like Alice and Annie too. Annie we have liked with dd1&2 also. Alice is a fairly new like.

What about all the Raffertys, Rafes and Beaus around?

Name fashions go in cycles. I would try and get with the programme and not worry about it.

Also, there is only one Honey Boo Boo afaik, and that name is nothing like Daisy which is a timeless classic.

balletnotlacrosse · 18/05/2015 14:00

I love it. And given that it's quite a popular name at the moment there will be lots of solicitors, senior civil servants, accountants and other jobs that require 'gravitas' called Daisy in about 25 years time.

doublepotions · 18/05/2015 14:30

Love it, great name.

Kaekae · 18/05/2015 14:32

Popular we have three in our class.

"I love it. And given that it's quite a popular name at the moment there will be lots of solicitors, senior civil servants, accountants and other jobs that require 'gravitas' called Daisy in about 25 years time".

Totally agree!

swancourt · 18/05/2015 14:39

Considered this for DD2, but went with Alice! Also considered it for her middle name, and she was going to have Daisy as a middle name until we saw her ...

I am not keen on the abbreviation 'Dais' (pronounced 'Dayz'), which I've heard a bit. I think it's a gorgeous name, but in the end when our baby was born she just seemed too ... sturdy ... for it, weirdly. I felt like 'Alice' was both pretty AND strong and would work no matter who she turned out to be. (She is pretty flipping fearsome, I have to say!)

But you can't go wrong. All these names are lovely.

twinjocks · 18/05/2015 16:03

I love it, my own Daisy is nearly 21 and it's just her name - she's not ditzy, babyish or daft!!

VT82 · 18/05/2015 16:56

Too cutesy-poo for me. But I agree with the people saying that with the popularity of it, there aren't going to be real 'gravitas' issues in 30 years' time.

justhayley · 19/05/2015 18:49

We have the same taste in names lol. Daisy is my favourite names but DP said it's a cows name and there was no way we could use it Confused I still love it and am hoping next time round he does something horrible to me that I can use against him when it's time to name the baby lol.

ch1134 · 19/05/2015 21:35

I'm with Kerala (though wouldn't put it quite that way!).
Just sounds a bit weak and frilly to me.

Gugglebum · 20/05/2015 04:11

Love it. It to me is vintage, happy, energetic and feminine.

Wishful80smontage · 20/05/2015 09:37

It's ok for a little girl but agree with poster about it not being suitable for an adult it's too babyish

siblingproblemsaplenty · 20/05/2015 09:40

Hmm maybe but personally think its a feminist issue. They are childlike, powerless names which don't suit adult women

You are utterly ridiculous. Have a Biscuit.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 20/05/2015 16:58

I'll have to award myself a doughnut too.

It's too frilly for me but I do love it. If I wanted to call my child Daisy I would do so as a nickname so that if she grew up and worked in an industry that would unconsciously discriminate against her solely because of her name, she could choose to use something a bit more formal.
I'd call her Marguerite, Margaret or Margot.

KLou1105 · 20/05/2015 19:03

Too common sorry x

KERALA1 · 20/05/2015 19:09

Thanks for the biscuit - delicious! Stand by my opinion it's not a name for an adult woman don't care how many there are. It's weedy, girly and weak. We should want our girls to be strong and autonomous. Prime minister daisy? I don't think so. I am the polar opposite of Jules oliver and happy to be so.

BeautifulStars93 · 20/05/2015 20:40

lol.
if she was good at her job id be more than happy with prime minister daisy or judge daisy.

siblingproblemsaplenty · 21/05/2015 08:36

Exactly, what kind of moron judges someone by their name?!

siblingproblemsaplenty · 21/05/2015 08:36

also what's wrong with being girly? I consider myself to be quite girly, doesn't mean I'm not a strong woman!

BertrandRussell · 21/05/2015 08:44

It used to be a pet name for Margaret if that helps...............

TruJay · 21/05/2015 09:57

I find it hilarious that people base someone's intelligence level on their name, absolutely ridiculous.
If a child wants to grow up to be a solicitor/doctor or high court judge (another job that gets thrown around on here a lot) then their brains, sheer determination and bloody hard work will get them there.
I certainly know that if my child was at deaths door and the doctor that was attempting to save them announced themselves as Dr Daisy Smith I sure as shit know that I wouldn't be saying "oh sorry Daisy (snigger) but could you go and find someone named insert apparently more acceptable name here who is clearly more serious/intelligent/more able to do the job please?"
It just wouldn't enter my head, personally I judge people who judge others based on name instead of judging names myself. A person is a person with personality and characteristics that define them not the name assigned to them at birth. We have different choices and preferences when it comes to names which is fine, we can't all like the same ones but to suggest that someone's name makes them stupid or ditzy is just plain rude.

I love the name Daisy, if you like it op go for it, it's my favourite from your list.

yy to this.

momb · 21/05/2015 10:03

Lovely. There's a Daisy in my Brownie pack who is a lovely girl and it gives me a really positive association with the name.

BertrandRussell · 21/05/2015 10:12

"I find it hilarious that people base someone's intelligence level on their name, absolutely ridiculous."

It is ridiculous. But it happens. There's lots of research.

dottiemad · 21/05/2015 10:14

I love Daisy, so pretty
