We don't know if we're have a girl or boy, but we do like unusual names. What are your opinions / favourites from this list?
Lorena
Mercy
Inez
Aurora
Tabitha
Honeysuckle
Marigold
Some are more odd than others and some id probably only have the guts to use for a middle name. But it would be good to see what you think. Thank you!

Hi I have always loved aurora I love the nickname Rory it's so cute but very pretty as a full name

SnotQueen · 10/05/2015 19:44

I love Inez.
And Lorena.
Prefer Marisol to Marigold.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/05/2015 19:45

Marigold is horrible. A 1960's bland housewife.

The others are ok, Tabitha and Inez my favourites.

TheImprobableGirl · 10/05/2015 19:46

I think mercy sounds like a gospel singer name :)

SkodaLabia · 10/05/2015 19:48

Is Inez INN-ez or EYE-nez?

ShadowFire · 10/05/2015 19:52

I like Mercy best, then Aurora.

I really don't like Honeysuckle at all as a girl's name. And Marigold reminds me of doing the washing up.

ConcreteElephant · 10/05/2015 19:54

I'm not sure Tabitha is all that unusual, at least not where we are (Home Counties). DD has a really common name (in terms of ranking) but I only know her with her name and rather more Tabithas. It's a lovely name though. I also like Inez and Marigold from your list.

Sophronia · 10/05/2015 20:01

I like Inez, Tabitha, Marigold and Mercy, and Lorena and Aurora are ok. I love Honeysuckle the plant but I don't think it really works as a name.

IvoryMadonna · 10/05/2015 20:03

Mercy is lovely, can't understand why it isn't more popular.

RandomHouseRules · 10/05/2015 20:04

I love Inez, but be aware that there are quite a few around (London - so partly expats living here, may not apply in other parts of the country).

MaElsie · 10/05/2015 20:05

Inez is pronounced an-yeyz. It's a European variant of agnes meaning pure.

Laquila · 10/05/2015 20:06

I LOVE Inez (or Ines) and Aurora. Ta it'sa is nice but I agree it might be getting more popular now. Prefer Laurel to Lorena.

Laquila · 10/05/2015 20:07

N.B. I would pronounce Inez/Ines as INN-es.

Lunastarfish · 10/05/2015 20:08

Lorena - pretty but a bit stripperish/glamour model type of name
Mercy - lovely and livable
Inez - lovely and livable
Aurora - Beautiful but I don't like Rory as a nn
Tabitha - pretty normal for Surrey/SW London
Honeysuckle - I love it but not brave enough to use as a first name. Have considered as a middle name
Marigold - sounds like a spinster character from a 1970's comedy show

MamaLazarou · 10/05/2015 20:08

Lorena is definitely my favourite from your list.

ByeByeButterfly · 10/05/2015 20:14

Aurora Marigold sounds lovely!

I also like Lorena and Mercy.

Matilda is OK.

Honeysuckle and Inez not to my taste but would be OK as a middle name?

SoftSheen · 10/05/2015 20:14

I rather like Marigold, perhaps due to the little girl on Downton Abbey.

Dislike Mercy and Lorena, and Honeysuckle is a step too far I fear.

Inez and Tabitha are nice. Aurora is OK. but a bit Disney

SoftSheen · 10/05/2015 20:16

Have you considered Primrose?

CrispyFern · 10/05/2015 20:30

I like them all except Honeysuckle, because it's sickly, and Mercy, because it sounds a bit too pious.

CrispyFern · 10/05/2015 20:31

I do like Merry as a nickname for Mercy though.

But you could use that for Marigold instead!

MaElsie · 10/05/2015 20:33

We used primrose last time - good suggestion. We clearly have similar tastes

Lorena - lovely, trad Italian, I know lots of grown up Lorenas whose families are Italian
Mercy - like it
Inez - will be a pronunciation problem in the UK
Aurora - sleeping beauty, no thanks, wishy washy
Tabitha - love this
Honeysuckle - porn star
Marigold - quite like

sweetpeame · 10/05/2015 23:09

Lorena - quite nice
Mercy - awful, sounds like a nun's name. In fact it was the name of the school I went to which was run by nuns...
Inez - nice enough, assume you have some Spanish roots
Aurora - I really like this
Tabitha - really dislike although it gets lots of love on mumsnet! Sounds like a cats name
Honeysuckle - dreadful, it's not a name
Marigold - awful, isn't it a brand of rubber glove?

TragicallyUnbeyachted · 10/05/2015 23:14

Lorena Bobbitt (still the first association I have with the name). Aurora is a bit Disney Princess. I know quite a few small Tabithas. And Marigold is rubber gloves.

I like Mercy and Inez. Honeysuckle is a bit too much as a first name IMO unless you are Very Posh (like Honeysuckle Weeks).

CMOTGilbertBlythe · 10/05/2015 23:16

Lorena - nice
Mercy - reminds me of Mercy Dulbottle from the Jill's ponies books (niche reference, I know)
Inez - I met a little Inez recently, very nice name
Aurora - pretty and feminine
Tabitha - have always liked this
Honeysuckle - no, because of the Suckle part
Marigold - Like it!
