We don't know if we're have a girl or boy, but we do like unusual names. What are your opinions / favourites from this list?
Lorena
Mercy
Inez
Aurora
Tabitha
Honeysuckle
Marigold
Some are more odd than others and some id probably only have the guts to use for a middle name. But it would be good to see what you think. Thank you!

What about zinnia or azalea ? I like Bryony also. I do like tabitha too x

Florrieboo · 11/05/2015 04:39

Aurora will always remind me of the movie theater shooting before the Disney princess, and based on both of those it would be a no from me.
I like Marigold from your list.

RebeccaCloud9 · 11/05/2015 04:49

Ah, I was going to suggest primrose too!

Inez is lovely but I can't imagine many people would know it is pronounced how you said.

Mercy seems a bit chavvy to me.

Tabitha lovely.

Honeysuckle is a gorgeous name and goes well with primrose but it would be a brave choice!

ItsRainingInBaltimore · 11/05/2015 05:06

Marigold is awful Honeysuckle is lovely.

Don't really like Lorena, it sounds a bit pharmaceutical/cleaning product-ish.

Mercy is horrible

Aurora is quite nice.

Tabitha is lovely

I really like Inez but I would just pronounce it Inn-ez. I am struggling to even sound out An- Yeyz. Confused I think that everyone, everywhere will just call her Inn-ez so if you are not happy with that then don't pick it - it will drive you bonkers.

I think if it's to go with a Primrose the Honeysuckle would be gorgeous. Second choice would be Tabitha.

mathanxiety · 11/05/2015 05:23

Please do not call your child Honeysuckle. She has to live her whole life out there in the real world.

The rest are fine. Marigold is rubber gloves but it's better than Honeysuckle.

paxtecum · 11/05/2015 05:27

Marguerite is a lovely flower name.

Honey Suckle is not good.

Marigold is a rubber glove, unless you are very posh.

Allthatnonsense · 11/05/2015 09:37

Tabitha

MehsMum · 11/05/2015 09:46

Aurora was on my shortlist for one of our DDs. Vetoed by DH.
So obviously I like that one. Tabitha is also a fab name.

Lorena, Honeysuckle and Marigold are all grim. Don't like Inez.

And Mercy sounds as if her siblings should be called Humility, Providence and KillSin, and whose father is a Puritan pastor...

getbusyliving · 11/05/2015 09:59

My favourite is Marigold its such a beautiful name, it's a shame it's so strongly associated with rubber gloves.

Although if you already have a Primrose i personally wouldn't have another flower name it all becomes a bit themey.

Have you considered Clementine?

IvoryMadonna · 11/05/2015 12:21

Why is Mercy any worse than the madly popular Grace?

TheNewStatesman · 11/05/2015 12:37

Because every time the OP calls out "Mercy! Mercy!" across the park, people will look round in panic thinking someone's being attacked (another "Jill's Gymkhana" reference for you there....)

Belazu84 · 11/05/2015 12:50

I think with Primrose, Honeysuckle or Marigold would be too much...

Tabitha or Aurora both work with Primrose and are pretty names.

MitzyLeFrouf · 11/05/2015 13:42

Honeysuckle would be a nice name for a hedgehog.

Inez and Tabitha are my favourites from your list.

TerracottaTilesAreSlippy · 11/05/2015 16:21

What about Merce, pn Mer-say the Spanish way.

reuset · 11/05/2015 16:35

Don't be silly with Honeysuckle. Nick name Suckle? Oh dear!

The other names are better, but I'd point out that Tabitha probably isn't very unusual.

Teapot13 · 12/05/2015 03:07

OP says Inez is pronounced "an-yeyz." Where? I think of this as a Spanish name, and in Spanish it is pronounced "ee-NAYS." In Spain they might say "ee-NAYTH," but it can be spelled with an "s." The "e" has an accent mark.

Agnes, in French, spelled the same as English, is pronounced closer to "an-yeyz."

Don't know where the Spanish spelling coincides with French pronunciation. . .

In any case, I would guess from other posters that many people will have trouble pronouncing this, if that bothers you. I do really like the name.

Guin1 · 12/05/2015 05:49

Agree with Teapot re Inez. In Latin America, Inez/Ines is pronounced ee-NES. Love Tabitha. The suck/suckle bit rules out Honeysuckle.

Laquila · 12/05/2015 07:03

Yep I'd agree with Teapot's post above ref pronunciation.

Bonsoir · 12/05/2015 07:06

Ines

Rhubarbgarden · 12/05/2015 07:34

I love Marigold, and Inez pronounced the Spanish way.

florascotia · 12/05/2015 19:11

Agree that French 'Agnes' (Ann-yez) sounds closer than Inez to the sound you are after. Or what about Annis, which is the old Scottish pronounciation of Agnes?

OneMagnumisneverenough · 12/05/2015 20:49

Lorena -ok but prefer Lorna
Mercy - okay if you live in the american south in the 1920s
Inez - Like it
Aurora - sound a dog makes when chewing a toffee
Tabitha - fine but not that unusual
Honeysuckle - terrible
Marigold - not my taste at all

OneMagnumisneverenough · 12/05/2015 20:50

I know an Ineez which sorts out the pronunciation issue?

Quasilulu · 13/05/2015 01:13

Not keen on Honeysuckle but love Honey as a middle name. Inez Honey?

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 13/05/2015 09:24

Honeysuckle, Mercy, Lorena and Inez are all very pretty.
Don't like Tabitha Aurura or Marigold
