.... Or is Josette a lovely name? I fear people will think me crazy and hormonal but I love it!

Reminds me of Cosette from Les mis which I love.

Billynoname · 29/04/2015 23:22

Same, I think that's why I like it so much!

I've never seen Les mis but I love the name, is it a 'joe' sound or a 'joh'?

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 29/04/2015 23:26

Sounds like a brand of sanitary protection to me.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 29/04/2015 23:31

Sounds like a Cosette / Joseph mashup. Why not Cosette?

LilQueenie · 29/04/2015 23:32

reminds of a character from dark hadows. vampire tv series later redone as a johnny depp film. Similar in ways to juliet. a romantic type of name.

LilQueenie · 29/04/2015 23:32

sorry dark shadows.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 29/04/2015 23:38

Reminds me of the actress from Blake's 7 (that gives my age away but who cares). I like it. Also like Lisette (who I think was another actress, similar era).

Quasilulu · 30/04/2015 02:06

Pretty.

ShadowFire · 30/04/2015 02:23

I think it's a pretty name.

Guin1 · 30/04/2015 06:05

Lovely name.

SoldierBear · 30/04/2015 06:08

Reminds me of the Chalet School!
A nice namr

VikingVolva · 30/04/2015 06:22

I like it!

Very 1970s.

confusedandemployed · 30/04/2015 06:27

I'm not one for 'made up' names but weirdly I like it.

EdithWeston · 30/04/2015 06:42

It's not made up, it's a standard French diminutive of Josephine, and has been used as a main name for ages.

There were enough around to be unexceptional and who would be in their late 40s by now (and I was at Guides with one).

timelyreminder · 30/04/2015 09:17

I prefer Josephine, nickname Josette or Jo.

reuset · 30/04/2015 10:54

I'm afraid it's not a name I've heard used in France (not saying Edith is incorrect, just haven't come across it personally yet).

It just doesn't feel like a 'proper' established name. I too prefer Josephine

Bowlersarm · 30/04/2015 10:57

I know of a little girl called Josette, and I don't like it at all. It sounds clumsy and awkward when spoken IMO.

manicinsomniac · 30/04/2015 11:38

I like it. It's pretty. The only one I've come across was in the Chalet School.

IvoryMadonna · 30/04/2015 12:39

I used to know a French Josette, and also a Joselle.

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 30/04/2015 12:43

How's it pronounced? Joe-set? Joh-set? Joe/Joh-set-uh?

I'm not sure it works in English.

YouMakeMyHeartSmile · 30/04/2015 12:46

I quite like it although I'm not sure why! Pretty and rolls off the tongue. Better than lots of names around at the moment!

YDdraigGoch · 30/04/2015 12:49

Sounds like a brand of sanitary protection to me

Hmm, I would say it would something like Joe-zette. The initial 'j' being pronounced similar to the 'j' in darjeeling.

What would a British pronunciation be I wonder

shakemysilliesout · 30/04/2015 12:51

I'm getting american trailer park, perhaps in an old French area in America. Like Louisiana. Josette has a sister called britney. Her neighbour is jolene.
