I adore the name Celia. Dh doesn't like it though Angry

Gingerandcocoa · 15/04/2015 08:50

My favourite is Cecilia, just a pity that it means "the blind one".

Acunningruse · 15/04/2015 08:50

I think Cecilia and Cecily also lovely, the latter quite a mouthful though so may depend which goes better with your surname?

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 15/04/2015 08:51

I love Celia but I wasn't allowed.

NerrSnerr · 15/04/2015 08:51

I love Cecily.

FreiasBathtub · 15/04/2015 08:53

I too love Cecily (and Cicely) but wasn't allowed. DH: 'what if she has a lisp?'

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 15/04/2015 09:07

I have a Cecily so am biased, love Cecilia too but Cecily went better with her single Syllable surname.

SophyStantonLacy · 15/04/2015 09:26

Surname is 2 syllables beginning with C. A bit like Tarmac in sound! Goes quite well I think although generally I don't like alliterative names...

I think my preferences goes Cecilia, Cecily, Celia but wonder if Cecilia is too much.

I like all three, I think Cecilia is my favourite though.

IvoryMadonna · 15/04/2015 11:00

I like Celia. The others are too frilly and fussy for my taste.

And it's true, they are very difficult to say for anyone with a lisp, and there are bound to be kids in her circle who will have trouble saying her name. I'd keep it simple with Celia.

Bonsoir · 15/04/2015 12:00

Cecilia is lovely. Cecily is a bit mannish and Celia a bit librarian-chic.

33goingon64 · 15/04/2015 12:09

Like all. Would go for Cecily though.

Zahrah5 · 15/04/2015 12:31

Love Celia, it is on our longer version of short list.

Hate the others

TempsPerdu · 15/04/2015 12:47

Celia for me.

Don't like Cecily - sounds too lispy and a bit 'wet' (like a limp girly character from a children's book who hates getting her clothes dirty - might just be me though! Smile)

Used to love Cecilia but now find it too fussy and frilly - too many s sounds. Agree that Celia's a bit 'librarian-chic' but see that as a good thing! It's less girly and more streamlined than the others, plus it has a lovely meaning and a Shakespearean namesake. Feels more solid and substantial than the others somehow.

ragged · 15/04/2015 13:09

I like Cecilia but not the others.

MaudeTheMopLady · 15/04/2015 13:55

I adore CECILY (Cicely too!).
Great choice.

SophyStantonLacy · 15/04/2015 15:16

Other DDs are Nina and Greta so don't think frilly fits very well. Celia reminds me of a literary character, Cecily is in the Mantlemass series, Cecilia is that song...

Cecily - but I'd go with which ever works best with surname and middle names

Rhubarbgarden · 15/04/2015 20:32

I like all three. I'd only go with Cecilia with a single syllable surname though; it's just too much otherwise.

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 15/04/2015 20:41

With your surname I'd definitely pick Celia - with the others it's just too many c's!

williaminajetfighter · 19/04/2015 16:11

I love Celia but we have a few people with Coeliac disease in the family so it wasn't allowed as sounds to similar.

I vote for Cecily.

Mrsbobdylan · 19/04/2015 17:09

Cecily is gorgeous, not mad keen on the other two.

Allthatnonsense · 19/04/2015 18:07

Cecille is lovely too!
