Teddie-Rose?!

Baby no2 due in 11 weeks, we had our hearts set on Teddy for a boy and since finding out its a girl we are really struggling for a girls name. What are people's views on Teddie for a girls name? Does it sound better alone or with Rose? I'm not 100% but my partner really really wants it.

Theodora with nickname Teddy

MrsFlannel · 10/04/2015 16:55

I don't like it...works for a baby or toddler...but imagine a grown woman called "Teddie" !

MuttonCadet · 10/04/2015 16:55

Theodora Rose is lovely (don't name her Teddie)

Pepperpot99 · 10/04/2015 16:57

Teddy Rose sounds like lingerie IMO. What about Thea Rose? Or Tia?

ButterflyHearts · 10/04/2015 16:57

I'm not a fan of Theodore, would Thea work?

Not one to really judge names as I do think each to their own but I personally don't really like it and don't think the two go together.

Would your DP consider something slightly different with a similar sound...

Tabitha- nn Tabby?

TravellingToad · 10/04/2015 16:57

I'm trying to picture myself aged 50 introducing myself as teddie or teddie-rose.

It wouldn't make me happy I'm afraid.

"All rise for judge teddie-rose"...

Hmmmm sorry not feeling it :(

TravellingToad · 10/04/2015 16:58

Thea is lovely!

iknowimcoming · 10/04/2015 17:00

How about Tessie (Tessa, Tess)? Agree with pps, Teddie as a child is sweet but as a teenager? Oh dear .....

EthelCardew · 10/04/2015 17:00

I have a Theodora Rose, although we went with Dora for short.

Robbie Williams named his daughter Theodora (Teddie) Rose too. Grrr.

ems1910 · 10/04/2015 17:04

Without the hyphen and Theodora as her given name, then yes :)

Bowlersarm · 10/04/2015 17:06

I like it.

Threeplus1 · 10/04/2015 17:08

Sorry not keen at all....but like a pp suggested, how about Thea instead?

IvoryMadonna · 10/04/2015 17:14

Theodora would be my choice, but an alternative is Edwina.

seaoflove · 10/04/2015 17:16

It's horrible and twee, sorry. I don't think you can make Teddy feminine by adding an "ie" and then hyphenating it with Rose.

I don't like it either - it certainly doesn't pass the 'age' test.....

can they get away at school without being teased?
would a teen be happy introducing themselves to other teens?
As a senior manager, or business colleague, does it have enough dignity?

etc.

BasinHaircut · 10/04/2015 17:22

No it's awful, sorry.

thatsn0tmyname · 10/04/2015 17:23

Thea is nice. Teddie for a nickname.

OutragedFromLeeds · 10/04/2015 17:23

I don't like it.

Teddie is cute for a baby, but not for an adult.

Something hyphenated with Rose has been done to death.

It's quite an unusual name and you will look like you've 'copied' Robbie Williams or are massive Robbie Williams fans.

I don't like Theodora either, but at least it's a proper name. Maybe with something not as overused as Rose as a middle name. Or another name that could have Teddie as a nickname, although I can't think what!

merrymouse · 10/04/2015 17:24

I like Theodora, but how about Edie?

Artandco · 10/04/2015 17:27

Theodora Rose
Thea Rosalie
Dorothea Rosa

All nickname teddy if you like

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 10/04/2015 17:36

Teddie cannot be a given name for an adult woman. What are you thinking!? And anything-Rose is totally naff these days. Please steer clear of Teddie, even as a nickname.

LondonRocks · 10/04/2015 17:38

Teddie is not good.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 10/04/2015 17:39

Oooh gosh. Awful I'm afraid.

It sounds like a brand of cheap Anne Summers lingerie "Sandy is modelling the Teddie-Rose collection with cream suspenders"

Thea Rose, nn Teddie is fine. Smile
