What does everyone think of Caroline as a name for a baby?

I'm thinking about Caroline Frances or Caroline Louisa.

Thanks!

Love it. Was a strong contender for my DD.

FatSwan · 01/04/2015 02:58

Oh and I like Louisa as a middle.

mathanxiety · 01/04/2015 03:07

Lovely and underused for reasons I can't fathom.

Losingmyreligion · 01/04/2015 03:36

Love it.

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 01/04/2015 04:08

Love it. And love it shortened to Caro.

Ifyourawizardwhydouwearglasses · 01/04/2015 04:09

I'd have Caroline Louisa, or Caroline Olivia.

burgatroyd · 01/04/2015 05:39

Its not a name I warm to. Can't explain it! Maybe iuve met an unpleasant one as a child and can't remember.

WishUponAStar88 · 01/04/2015 05:48

Love Louisa but I also can't warm to Caroline. I can only see a middle aged woman when I hear the name!

sparkleDJC · 01/04/2015 05:59

I have several friends called Caroline and its always shortened to "Car"...which I don't like. It's a pretty name when fully used though.

jaffajiffy · 01/04/2015 06:02

Lovely! Was going to be the name of ds2. Caroline Elizabeth shortened to caro. I prefer frances to Louisa.

AuntieStella · 01/04/2015 06:47

"Lovely and underused for reasons I can't fathom."

I think the reason is that it was pinged as the archetypal Sloane Ranger name in that book.

Isn't this supposed to be one of the names Kate & Wills are considering if the royal baby is a girl?

Sounds like the name of a very practical, probably horsey, girl. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing..

Penguinotterfoxbadger · 01/04/2015 08:23

Btw, I think Frances is lovely

anothernumberone · 01/04/2015 08:24

Aw it's sweet, sorry I could not resist. I really like it.

piglet81 · 01/04/2015 08:26

Really like it.

Sleepyfergus · 01/04/2015 08:28

whispers it's my MIL name so it's a no from me. It it hadn't of been, then I love it!

Eigg · 01/04/2015 08:30

I have two very lovely, elegant and fun friends called Caroline so it's a yes from me!

NorksAreMessy · 01/04/2015 08:30

Caroline is the most wonderful and lovely name.

Carolines are kind, funny and hard working. They are good with children and animals and always friendly.
Sadly they are really not very good cooks and have a tendency to eat too much chocolate.

Ahem. Grin

I would be honoured and delighted if you named your daughter after me :)

NorksAreMessy · 01/04/2015 08:31

And Elizabeth is the perfect middle name Grin

NorksAreMessy · 01/04/2015 08:32

NNs Caro and Cas

Shall I go away now?

2boys2girls · 01/04/2015 08:32

Names are funny things , 20yrs or even 10yrs ago I would have said omg noooo, but now I love it

BinarySolo · 01/04/2015 08:45

Agree with Norks apart from the not being able to cook bit! It's my mum's name, although she's never been called it! Her parents always called her Carol and my dad calls her Cas (pronounced kaz). It's a pretty feminine name IMO. My mum's Caroline Anne if that's any help.

sweetpeame · 01/04/2015 09:07

Hmmm not sure on this one. My dad's choice of name for me in the early 1980's was Caroline...(he didn't get his way!). I think it's relatively common amongst women born in the '70's and '80's, I went to school and uni with a load of them (in Ireland). Not convinced that it's due a come back yet but to be fair it's far nicer than a lot of names used today... Sorry not sure this is very helpful!

bluechameleon · 01/04/2015 09:11

I love it. I prefer Caroline Frances of your options because I think it is a bit more contemporary - Caroline Louisa is nice but a bit 80s.
