What baby boy names are you hearing of lots now in your circles/on TV etc rather than what's "officially" in the top ten?

Almost every baby boy I've known in the last year or so has been Edward.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 01/03/2015 13:43

Ah yes Reuben and Archie x 100

MamaLazarou · 01/03/2015 14:57

Ethan is the most popular baby boys' name in these parts. Closely followed by Oscar and Leo.

Also popular: Harry, Max, Sam, Jacob, Georg and Alfie.

MsJupiter whereabouts in the country are you based? I'm just interested as after lots of deliberation we have finally decided on Edward for our first baby due in May. Wanted a classic, relatively popular but not ridiculously so name! It's strange that Arthur and Reuben are suddenly so popular, both were on our shortlist and I have never met a Reuben and only one Arthur!

Blondie87 As said on another thread, there are really not many Edwards here in the South East. And anyway, if there turn out to be lots, go for a less common shortening e.g. I've met a few Teddies but no Neds or Eds.

Plus Edward is a lovely classic name - there will always be some but it is unlikely to be top 10.

I say all this because it was our no.1 name but sadly a close cousin chose it just a few weeks' before us!

Blondie87 · 01/03/2015 19:34

Oh no akorda- do you have a back up??

mewkins · 01/03/2015 19:58

Ethans and Arthurs

MsJupiter · 01/03/2015 20:20

I am in the South East although the various Edwards are not all local. It's a lovely name and I doubt it will ever be either uber-trendy or out of fashion. I think most people I know would be going for a classic but not overused name so it fits the bill!
