Hi,
I'm thinking of using Peter James as a name should my baby be a boy. Peter seems so uncommon now, I don't know why I love the name, what do you all think ?

If not Peter we will prob go with James Matthew.

Sounds good

harryhausen · 10/02/2015 13:08

I love Peter. He'll definitely be the only one in the school. It's due a resurgence, but I haven't heard it for years.

shakemysilliesout · 10/02/2015 14:04

Love it.

AuntieStella · 10/02/2015 14:07

It's a lovely name!

(Just don't call a sibling Henry).

bienemaya · 10/02/2015 14:10

Peter is a great name! Much nicer than James imo.

squoosh · 10/02/2015 14:37

I know two toddlers called Peter. There's nothing wrong with the name but I don't exactly love it.

Peter James is the male of a crime writer if that makes a difference?

Tanaqui · 10/02/2015 14:38

Name, not male!

purplemunkey · 10/02/2015 14:41

Love it. It's my DB's name (32) and I've always liked it. He's Pete for short, which I also like.

Superlovely · 10/02/2015 14:43

I know two Peters. It's a good name.
Just don't have a Jane as well.

queentroutoftrouts · 10/02/2015 15:18

It's not my taste at all, I wouldn't choose it personally. It sounds very old fashioned and dated instead of a classic iykwim.

squoosh · 10/02/2015 15:19

I think it's a bit like Paul in that I know so many of them in their early 30's that it hasn't been gone long enough to make a welcome resurgence.

reuset · 10/02/2015 16:52

It's still a fairly popular name, ranked 182 last year, though numbers have been steadily decreasing, but this seems to have slowed lately.

It's a good solid name.

Zsazsabinks · 10/02/2015 16:56

My Aunt has just had a baby boy called Peter. I'm not wildly keen on it but for no good reason at all, just maybe not something I would choose but you can't please every random on the internet!

Pandora37 · 10/02/2015 17:29

I really like it. I don't think of it in the same category as Paul as I know Peters of a wider variety of ages and Peter just feels more classic to me (which I know is silly when they're both biblical names). That said, I'd be quite happy to see a baby Paul as well.

Alisvolatpropiis · 10/02/2015 17:52

I like it!

I know two Peter's (though they go by Pete mostly as adults) and they're both nice blokes.

Sophronia · 10/02/2015 18:37

I do like it, but unfortunately it makes me think of "Baby Peter"

BlueStarsAtNight · 10/02/2015 19:44

I really like it, and would have it on my list except I'm not sure about Pete.

MamaLazarou · 10/02/2015 19:59

Peter is a lovely name, and certainly one I would consider if it weren't the name of my vile BIL.

RueDeWakening · 10/02/2015 20:04

DS2 (now 21 months) was going to be called Peter until about 3 weeks before he arrived - I had a pregnancy-induced rage and decided I hated it, so we changed it to a similar type of name. But I still like it and sometimes wish I hadn't had The Rage about it Grin

fannyfanakapan · 10/02/2015 20:09

Its still uncommon - around 300 last year i think in the whole of the UK? but I love it, I know a toddler Peter and he is a darling child.

fattymcfatfat · 10/02/2015 20:09

nothing wrong with peter, but I cant help.but giggle as it reminds me of peter Griffin from family guy Grin

TheCowThatLaughs · 10/02/2015 20:15

It's nice. I like Paul too. I'm showing my age probably (early 40s), but they sound like normal names and I've known a few of each, more Pauls than Peters though

girliefriend · 10/02/2015 20:18

I like it, I don't know any under the age of 40.
