Is it too comic book sounding? - Mickey Mouse Bugs Bunny etc or is it ok?

I'd avoid it personally.

Blahia · 08/02/2015 08:29

Completely fine! If you love the name, then go for it!

mummybare · 08/02/2015 08:33

DC2's name is alliterative and I think it sounds great. It depends on the name, though. Some names can sound a bit twee.

wigglesrock · 08/02/2015 08:43

I quite like a bit of alliteration, I think it works quite well in some names : Anne Archer, Will Webster, Steven Seagal

My little one does, it sounds great I think!

BugBugBug · 08/02/2015 09:19

My name is alliterative. I've always liked my two names together.

BathtimeFunkster · 08/02/2015 09:23

It depends on the two names.

How could there be a hard and fast rule?

DropYourSword · 08/02/2015 09:25

I think it can sound very effective and would definitely be something I wouldn't rule out.

Jackieharris · 08/02/2015 09:25

I think they mostly sound very good.

If the kids in your DS friend's school, do not start to call him Willy Warmer, then kids have certainly changed since my school days!

TheyLearnedFromBrian · 08/02/2015 09:31

Depends on the name! It can be lovely. Or very silly.

sleepybee · 08/02/2015 11:18

It's quite a classic girls name with an English surname it's along the lines of Emily Errol

Depends on the name. I went to school with a girl named something along the lines of Hannah Hanlon. She never came across any problems. AFAIK

StoneFoxMama · 08/02/2015 17:57

I get told I have a 'film star' name. Sadly the silver screen has yet to feature me, but I do love my alliterative name.

BreeVDKamp · 08/02/2015 20:24

I have an alliterative name (married name). I like it but it is a bit too neat for me!

BreeVDKamp · 08/02/2015 20:25

And yes if it's a DD then they might get married and end up wit an alliterative name even if you avoid it when they're born.

TheLondoner22 · 08/02/2015 21:33

I have it. Mine sounds fine ..... I think. ?!!!

CarbeDiem · 08/02/2015 22:03

I did have at school and got ribbed for it for the last few years there. One of the bright spark boys realised my initials were a bra size (actually my size but he didn't know that) So I got called 'Double D' instead of my name twats

gaahhnonicknamesleft · 08/02/2015 22:18

My rule would be: Not ok if first letter same AND last sound same AND same number of syllables

Eg Sarah Smith - fine.
Bethany Bailey - just about ok as different number of syllables
Billy Bailey - not great

Though just seen a report on the telly from Nina Nanah (sp?) which I an awesome name.

SnoringNorma · 08/02/2015 23:37

I know a Holly Holland. 20 something now. I think her name is cool.

ch1134 · 10/02/2015 20:55

I love alliterative names but my surname starts with h and I don't think that works.

5dogsgoswimming · 10/02/2015 21:21

My son is.

There was a round on pointless the other day, alliterative authors or something. Completely fine

MazzaP78 · 11/02/2015 10:31

I am very much FOR alliterative names. My married surname starts with an F though so limited choice!

PotteringAlong · 11/02/2015 11:42

I'm in the minority here then Grin
