Coolest boys names you've heard but won't dare use yourself?

So I'm back again.. Going through all of the options to find the perfect baby boy name! I'm due in April and time has been flying by so far!
If it was left to me and me only, he would be called Freddie. But I can't seem to get my partner to agree!

So just going through another option of not-often-heard-of boys names?
The ones on that list that I can think of are

Kit
River
Harley
Jax

What are the "coolest" or different boys names you've heard but perhaps a bit too dating to use yourself?

There was a really good thread ages ago about outdoorsy/ nature names- loads of those were good. Let me see if I can find it. Full of strong names like Huck.

Names ive admired recently; Otto, Monty, Morty, Dexter, Beau, Felix.

I love Elwood and Caspar and I know a gorgeous Cosmo.

Rocket Smile

invisiblecrown · 03/02/2015 19:17

Why won't anyone use Kit? DH is Kit, I've never thought it was strange?

cece · 03/02/2015 19:17

I know a lot of boys called Fred/Freddie. I also know a couple of Harleys.

Sometimes what might be thought of as the more unusual names turn out to be the more popular ones as people all seem to have the same ideas at the same time.

InteriorsMum · 03/02/2015 19:18

Satchel
Cole

RL20 · 03/02/2015 19:39

Thanks everyone!

I do like Kit, as does my mum. It's a possibility for me.
Just for some reason at the moment I have my heart set on Freddie. No idea why!

Someone posted about the name Fox.. I also know a lady who named one of her sons Fox and when I was younger I always thought it was weird. Now, I think it's cool! And I don't personally know of any other Fox's.

And to the comment about the names thread, thanks! I'll check that out too.

Freddie is shocking.

If I hear of another boy named Harry, Ethan or Freddie I'm going to scream.

There are other names! If you go for Freddie he will be one of 5 in his class.

Selks · 03/02/2015 19:53

I hate to be a party pooper but I reckon many of these trendy 'cool' names are going to date terribly in a few years.

Selks · 03/02/2015 19:55

Satchel? Seriously...that is a name?

Bowlersarm · 03/02/2015 20:03

Satchel was someone's sons name Grin...woody Allen?

RL20 · 03/02/2015 20:23

I wouldn't really say my choice of Freddie is "shocking". In what way do you find it shocking? Is it because it's common round where you live? As it isn't around here

Sacheverell
Branwell
Hammett
Thorkell
Wreford

RoseTheHat · 03/02/2015 20:56

Cassius
Arlo
Roscoe??

Anotheronesoon · 03/02/2015 21:01

Rocco
Scout

Fox- nah see so any mangy flea ridden city foxes round here can't see the attraction I'm afraid!

InteriorsMum · 03/02/2015 21:03

Love Scout! Is that not. Girls name though like Rumer?

ChristmasEveSteve · 03/02/2015 21:06

Neo. Morton. Murgo. Conrad.

StepfauxWife · 03/02/2015 21:07

Damn I came on to say Cassius too but see I was beaten to it. I love it. I know a Kit and an Ezra, both of whom are lovely.

I want another baby to name! Congratulations OP! X

callamia · 03/02/2015 21:16

I've got a son with one of these names.
I'd like a Philo, but it would be silly with ds1's name.

Btw, what is it with Jax and Jaxon? I know a few, and I just don't like it.

Micah · 03/02/2015 21:16

I love love love Jethro.

But aside from the banjo, dh pronounces "th" as "f", so that ruined it for me.

Atticus too :)

meglet · 03/02/2015 21:19

Fabrizio, or Fab for short. (drummer in the strokes)

Ferris.

Momzilla82 · 03/02/2015 21:21

And OP Freddie fails the back door test for me, imagine yourself calling at the back door to tell them dinner is ready- if you picture an animal instead of a human child, or cringe at the way it sounds- it isn't the right name. Strong contender for a middle name?

Neo Grin best name ever- saving that for DS3
