Although I do know a fabulous little Lorenzo. He's just called Lorenzo. It's also my cat's middle name.

Your cat has a middle name Lynette? Makes sense I suppose, mine has a double barrelled surname (neither of which are mine or DH's).

The problem I have with Luca is it is so common now, every man and his dog round here is called Luca (or Finley...)

Lavendar ... I love Franco but hate Frank and Frankie... Frankie is the name of choice for the Range rovers here. We live in a fairly middleclass area that has been overtaken by Z list celebs

Valentino is a fave of DPs although he insists that he's not brave enough to suggest it as a proper name

I know brothers (both under 5), called Luca and Enzo. Neither name is shortened. They're lovely names, I think Enzo might just be my favourite.

I love Giacomo. Nickname Jack. Or Giac, I suppose, technically.

My son is Frederick, known as Fred or Freddy but in Italy when waiters overhear us, they all say, ah Frederico!! I think it sounds lovely.

I agree with you that Luca is extremely popular.

Cosimo is another favourite of mine.

I have a Dante - easily and identically pronounced in both languages and could be shortened to Dan if need be. I considered Giacomo but thought he would probably be called Guy-ay-como by a lot of people in the UK . Lorenzo is very popular for young boys in my part of Italy.
