Opinions on these names please?

Also, any others you think are nice that work for a baby boy born in the UK and what nicknames could you use for any of them?

Luca
Angelo
Carmelo
Enzo
Franco
Orso
Raffael
Julius

Ezio
Umberto (Bertie)
Mario (obviously!)
Paolo

I think Franco is the nicest though Smile

You had it at Luca....no need to give it anymore thought. nickname, of erm....Luc. Smile

Although I do know a fabulous little Lorenzo. He's just called Lorenzo. It's also my cat's middle name.

BikeRunSki · 10/01/2015 17:41

Milo
Marco
Matteo

BikeRunSki · 10/01/2015 17:44

Your cat has a middle name Lynette? Makes sense I suppose, mine has a double barrelled surname (neither of which are mine or DH's).

Dukketeater · 10/01/2015 18:35

The problem I have with Luca is it is so common now, every man and his dog round here is called Luca (or Finley...)

Family names include:
Marco
Riccardo
Giorgio
Giovanni
Fabio
Nicola
Fulvio
Mario

So they are all out...

Lavendar ... I love Franco but hate Frank and Frankie... Frankie is the name of choice for the Range rovers here. We live in a fairly middleclass area that has been overtaken by Z list celebs

Some lovely names here, but IF you are not Italian, some people might ask 'why?'

MishMooshAndMogwai · 10/01/2015 19:27

I know a leo(nardo)

Franco is top of my list at the mo (or possibly Franklin)

Valentino is a fave of DPs although he insists that he's not brave enough to suggest it as a proper name

I used to know a man and his little son through work called Pepe and Marcelo

wigglesrock · 10/01/2015 19:32

I know brothers (both under 5), called Luca and Enzo. Neither name is shortened. They're lovely names, I think Enzo might just be my favourite.

Sophronia · 10/01/2015 19:35

Alessandro is my favourite.

Dukketeater · 10/01/2015 20:00

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 13/01/2015 19:15

Luca is lovely.
Tommaso?

TickleMyTitsTillFriday · 13/01/2015 19:15

My little italian boy is Leonardo (Leo)Smile

Rhubarbgarden · 14/01/2015 18:54

I love Giacomo. Nickname Jack. Or Giac, I suppose, technically.

GRW · 14/01/2015 19:06

Rocco is getting more popular I think.

CompletelyIncompetent · 14/01/2015 19:09

Matteo is great

Perspective21 · 14/01/2015 19:12

My son is Frederick, known as Fred or Freddy but in Italy when waiters overhear us, they all say, ah Frederico!! I think it sounds lovely.

Allalonenow · 14/01/2015 19:16

I agree with you that Luca is extremely popular.

I like Lorenzo very much, but is that Enzo's full name?

Cosimo is another favourite of mine.

lalalonglegs · 14/01/2015 19:31

I have a Dante - easily and identically pronounced in both languages and could be shortened to Dan if need be. I considered Giacomo but thought he would probably be called Guy-ay-como by a lot of people in the UK Hmm. Lorenzo is very popular for young boys in my part of Italy.

Allalonenow · 14/01/2015 19:41

I also like
Salvatore ~ nn Salvo
Arturo
Constantin

lalalonglegs · 14/01/2015 19:56

I liked Salvatore too but my family's from the north of Italy and they all screamed with laughter and said it was a mafia name Hmm.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 14/01/2015 22:05

Giuseppe.
