Can I call my daughter this? I am nearly 20 weeks pregnant and I miss gin.

I like it, different to the usual nature inspired girls names. It seems a little less girly but still feminine.

Bowlersarm · 06/12/2014 23:42

I love it.

Theas18 · 06/12/2014 23:42

Luffly.

5madthings · 06/12/2014 23:43

Love it! I know a five year old juniper, she came to our house today. It's lovely, unusual, and a great name :)

KissMyFatArse · 06/12/2014 23:44

Erm no sorry.

BikeRunSki · 06/12/2014 23:49

I really like it. Do you know the song
Jennifer Juniper?

TheWhispersOfTheGods · 06/12/2014 23:49

I actually love it as a name, not sure if I'd use it solely as a gin replacement!

ChristmasJumperWearer · 07/12/2014 00:07

It's a fabulous name, I love it!

(Used to love the Jennifer Juniper song as a child. Now I love gin. Can't believe I didn't think of the name Juniper for DD!)

BOFster · 07/12/2014 00:13

I always used to fantasise about a daughter called Jennifer Juniper Grin. Love it.

Seriously, it has that Holy Grail quality of names in that it is a) unusual; b) has an obvious spelling; c) cute; d) can be abbreviated (June, or Juno); and e) is unlikely to suddenly become The Next Big Thing.

If you like it, go for it.

jazzyjenbo · 07/12/2014 00:19

This is on my list.. Although i am jennifer so it maybe abit odd??

I have recently heard it on the kids dvd 'walking with dinosaurs' that my dd is obsessed with... Its one of the dinos names.

Aldo love blossom, posy, primrose and marigold.

Secretlifeofme · 07/12/2014 00:21

Did anyone read the children's book 'juniper' by Gene Kemp? Great book, fab heroine and lovely name :)

zgaze · 07/12/2014 00:23

I very nearly called my DD Juniper, she was born at Christmas and it seemed like a nice nod to that without being tacky, plus my favourite song is Simon & Garfunkel For Emily... And it reminded me of the line in that. In the end we didn't go with it because we thought it'd get shortened to Ju / June / Juni all if which I hate, rather than Juno which I quite liked. We did use it for her middle name though and had nothing but positive comments.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 07/12/2014 01:06

Hmm, I've only had one real life response and it was "Those hormones are powerful!" (Meaning, no.)

But I think I still like it. But I think it might be a cat's name. Or a horse's.

Hmm.

What about "Ginnie"?
Xmas Smile

artex · 07/12/2014 01:13

Love it. It's going on The List!

HerRoyalNotness · 07/12/2014 01:44

It's a lovely name and I'd use it if a friend hadn't said she'd call a dD that. I might ask her if I can actually, if I'm lucky enough to have another DD.

MoreBonkersThanBonkers · 07/12/2014 01:49

I was a bit disappointed when the lovely MNHQ'er (sorry I forgot their name) who had twins didn't take up my suggestion to call her babies Juniper and Berry. Confused

I like the name Juniper. It's a little hippy'ish but that's ok Smile

I'd use the NN Juni.

moxon · 07/12/2014 06:56

Yes. I'd do Ginny or nippy as nn.

KatieKaye · 07/12/2014 07:00

Not hugely fond of the name as it sounds like one of the Borrowers.

Definite no to Nippy as a non, because this is so negative and means to be shirt to sharp tongued.

KatieKaye · 07/12/2014 07:02

short or sharp tongued

I really like it! Never thought of it as a name, but I definitely think it works.

MaMaPo · 07/12/2014 07:55

I love it. I toyed with it for dd but ended up with something much more traditional.

I think it has loads of lovely diminutives. Go for it!

AuntieStella · 07/12/2014 08:00

It would lead to a lifetime of awful puns

"Juniper'
'No she pinched herself'

I really wouldn't.

MsJupiter · 07/12/2014 08:28

I love it (and gin).
