Samuel and Margaret, called Sam and Maggie?

A boy will be William called Will. But I have absolutely no idea for a girl. Help!

What about Caroline with nn Callie or Carrie?

I know it has been mentioned but I will remind you of Louisa Grin

I really like Sam, Maggie and Lulu. They go together well but all sound quite different.

Theresomethingaboutdairy · 03/12/2014 13:57

I know a 4 year old Maggie and her sister is Connie, which I quite like.

Annika/Annouk/Annabel

Anything that can be shortened to Annie.

I can picture you with a baby Annie.

CheerfulYank · 03/12/2014 21:21

I can too Psam. :) I've always described my style of names as "Jack/Annie types" so maybe I just ought to go with it. However the closeness to Andy puts me off somewhat.

I do like Franny Thumb. :) That's what we wod have called Maggie if she'd been Frances.

Connie is an 80's mom name in the US, like Debbie or Pam or Linda. It is nice though. But I can't shake that association!

I love Lulu but I'm not sure if it's "it". I feel like it's more about occasional pet name than a nickname if that makes any sort of sense? With Sam and Maggie, that is what they're called almost always. I don't know if Lulu would fit. I also don't know if it matters :o I'm so hormonal and I'll right now that my head isn't on straight.

Annie is gorgeous. Can't you change your man? Grin

BikeRunSki · 03/12/2014 21:24

I have a 6 year old Sam(uel). His little sister would have been Anna/Annie if some very good friends hadn't had an Anna shortly before us.

CheerfulYank · 03/12/2014 21:53

:o Psam I may if he doesn't stop going on about the amount I'm spending on Christmas presents. Hmm I could call him Andrew I suppose. I know first hand how difficult it would be because his SIL is Angie. They work together and when I phone for DH I end up getting directed to SIL about 30% of the time.

I did like the thought of Susannah with Annie as a nn. MIL is Suzanne and would be thrilled, plus I do think it's a beautiful name. I worry that she'd automatically get Susie or similar though, and I want to avoid Sam and Susie.

Harriet goes well. Love Will!

CheerfulYank · 04/12/2014 15:26

I do like Harriet. Well, I mostly like Hattie. It's worth noting that in my accent Hattie and Hettie would be Haddie and Heddie unless I took time to enunciate very clearly. Which no one else would do. :)

I like Will too! Willy is not a euphamism here so no worries about that. I'm almost sure it's a girl, though.

I met someone in the USA who has a five year old Susannah. I commented on what a lovely name it is and she said she regrets it because so many people call her Savannah. Even after the 14th time of being corrected.

Annie is a beautiful name. I love it. Not keen on Anna but I love Annie.

IAmAPaleontologist · 04/12/2014 15:30
