Ok so I don't find out what I'm having until next fortnight & I have chosen both names yet I'm told that the girls name I have chose is too 'Chavvy' & I have to find something else by my 'D'M .

I'd like a none biased opinion so I have come to you lot for help & other name suggestions as I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall trying to find anything at all Smile

Sadie Liesel

Ruairi Atticus Norton

It's the girls name that I'm told is too chavvy/ common Confused & I still need a second middle name for girl as well .

Also if I like these what else would I like ?

Eternally grateful for any ideas/responses

Luckily I don't live in NI or Scotland Grin

Math the only one that would work with my surname is Alexandria & can't/won't use that as Ds is called Xandur Smile

The only other girls names I like are

Bella & Mali

This is too difficult grrr Grin

I wouldn't say Sadie is "chavvy"at all.

I knew a little Sadie who had a sister called Lottie and a brother called Jesse.

How about Zara?

cruikshank · 29/10/2014 18:24

Zara is a stripper's name.

Pebbles0934 · 29/10/2014 18:26

Ha ha ! What? Really?

KoalaDownUnder · 29/10/2014 18:28

Sadie is great. Way better than Sarah, which I truly think is the most boring girls' name in the world.

scarevola · 29/10/2014 18:28

(Oops, sorry, the Mitford aunt was Sadie Radlett, Lady Alconleigh).

OP: not keen on Mali (it might have origins elsewhere, but it really does look like a country name to me). Bella is lovely! Freestanding, or as short form for Annabel, Jezebel, Arabella, Isabella, Clarabel or the magnificent Mehitabel?

myotherusernameisbetter · 29/10/2014 18:32

I like Sadie, and Ruairi in all it's guises is just a regular name in my neck of the woods.

In the same style as Sadie, would Estella/Estelle/Stella work? or maybe something like Adeline?

cruikshank · 29/10/2014 18:33

Yes, really. Off the top of my head, I have known two Zaras. One I still know, used to be a lap-dancer but admittedly isn't any more. The other was a stripper/escort when I knew her but I don't know her any more - I suppose for all I know she could be a high court judge now, but I doubt it.

WhenDoISleep · 29/10/2014 18:34

I like both sets of names - Sadie is lovely.

Can I throw Zelda out as an option if you are looking for alternatives?

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 29/10/2014 18:34

I'd have 'Bella' as a free standing name iyswim as I don't like naming a child one thing with the intention of calling it something completely different if that makes any sense

Other name suggestions are very welcome Grin

I like Sadie, would never have considered it as chavvy.

weebarra · 29/10/2014 18:39

Love them both - and I'm Scottish. I know a very lovely six year old Sadie, and I like Ruairi too. I have an Alasdair so appreciate the comments about alternative spellings!

ATombWithoutAFoof · 29/10/2014 18:40

I love Sadie, Liesel and Mali. Not so keen on Bella or your boy choices.

turdfairynomore · 29/10/2014 18:41

Love both Sadie and Ruairi. I'm from NI and "get" the Les Dawson/hospital cleaner type connotation with Sadie but those days are gone as I also teach 4 year olds and in the past 6 or 7 years I've taught/known a few. Ruairi is a lovely name. I prefer it to Rory. I taught one a few years ago who replaced "r" with "w" so he was "woo-wee"! Very cute!!! He can say it properly now but he'll always be woo-wee to me!!

Pompatrol · 29/10/2014 18:43

Not chavvy at all.

cece · 29/10/2014 18:46

How about Rae as a middle name

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 29/10/2014 18:48

Cece funny you say that name as I really wanted to use it but didn't think it went with my choice

Silke
Truus
Sietske
Lieke
Marlie
Renate
Loos
Hotske

Just to chuck some more out there......

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 29/10/2014 20:14

Lovely names Baroness , my Dp wouldn't be able to pronounce any of them though Envy

YonicScrewdriver · 29/10/2014 20:20

Sadie, to me, is Sadie Frost, not an "Aggie" type name.

cece · 29/10/2014 21:22

I knew a lovely Sadie Rae years ago.

hollyisalovelyname · 29/10/2014 21:53

Brian O' Driscoll ex Irish rugby captain ( and Irish hero) and his wife named their first baby Sadie.
They are not in the slightest chavvy.
Smile

Toucanet · 29/10/2014 23:47

Sadie to me's quite trendy! Sadie Frost etc. Liesel, v German, good if it goes with your surname but would she have to spell it to people? Same for Ruairi - requires a bit of thought to spell right and I would hesitate over pronunciation. Maybe not a huge issue but could niggle. Do you really need a second middle name for a girl? I have 2 and it's just a pain.
Not keen on Atticus or Norton personally - isn't the latter allegedly chavvy in a surname as fore/middle name? But definitely better as middle than first names! And easier to spell than Ruari - oh no I see it's Ruairi...

MasqueradeWaltzer · 29/10/2014 23:51

Sadie is not REMOTELY chavvy!

Might have been considered so, though, in years gone by (1970s). But is v classic and stylish now.

AbbieHoffmansAfro · 29/10/2014 23:57

You've got to please yourself you know, not your mother or anyone else. Stop telling her the names you're considering! I think Sadie is nice, not at all chavvy. But since you asked for suggestions, what about:

Syrie
Dana
Clea
Dinah
Judith
Jacinta
Justine
