How will you pronounce it.
Ee-dee or
Ed-dee

Congratulations on your babe.

BiancaDelRio · 29/10/2014 14:18

Congrats on your baby Smile .

Edie is a really lovely name.

Eidie is awful and will set her up for a lifetime of people mispronouncing her name. There's just no need to do that to your DD for the sake of being 'yooneeq'.

GwenStacy · 29/10/2014 14:18

I'd think that was pronounced I-dee?

BforBee · 29/10/2014 14:21

Edie is lovely, and says "Edie"

Eidie says "idy" and is like someone trying to say Heidi with a dropped 'H'

HowlCapone · 29/10/2014 14:22

Eidie is awful.

Edie is OK as a nickname but I'm not keen on nicknames as full names.

IHeartKingThistle · 29/10/2014 14:29

'Ei' only makes an 'ee' sound in English if it comes after a 'c', which this doesn't. Plus it looks insane. Sorry.

I do know an Eadie which is marginally better but just as unnecessary.

babyblabber · 29/10/2014 14:48

but it would be pronounced "I.D."

edie much nicer

socially · 29/10/2014 14:49

Edie is a nice name and is pronounced Ee-dee

Eidie is weird and would be pronounced I-dee

If you want a child called ID, then go for it!

darlingfascistbullyboy · 29/10/2014 14:56

Edie = ee-dee = fine
Eidie = eye-dee = not good

atticusclaw · 29/10/2014 14:57

It would sound like you meant to call her Heidi but you drop your H's

Definitely not. If you want to call her Edie call her Edie. But why does everyone feel the need to change the spellings of names. It's awful.

Legionofboom · 29/10/2014 15:01

Why do you want to spell it Eidie?

Leeds2 · 29/10/2014 15:48

I would go with Edie.

Riverland · 29/10/2014 15:53

I'd register her as Edith and call her Edie.

The made up spelling version you posted will just be a waste of time and energy spelling it out to everyone who will assume you meant to call her Heidi but forgot the 'H'.

badtime · 29/10/2014 15:53

I agree, it looks like it should be pronounced I.D.

Why do you want to use an alternative spelling?

squoosh · 29/10/2014 16:03

Congrats on the new baby!

Please go with Edie, if I saw Eidie I'd try and pronounce it as Ay-ee-dee.

ATombWithoutAFoof · 29/10/2014 16:06

Yep, keep it as Edie, otherwise it's mangling it.

Sophronia · 29/10/2014 18:27

Eidie looks misspelt and like it would be pronounced I-dee.

I'd use Edie or Edith with Edie as a nickname.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/10/2014 18:31

Definitely spell it edie.

It's the kind of name that's cute on a baby but you can't imagine a ten year old or teen called it and Edith is an old people's name.

I definitely would t spell it eidie. Makes your eyes go all funny

saintsandpoets · 29/10/2014 23:03

Eidie just makes me think of the Muslim festival.

johendy · 30/10/2014 06:58

I prefer Edie rather than Eidie too I'm afraid.

I love Eden for a girl, if you're thinking about a more formal birth certificate name with Edie as a nickname

devoncreamtea · 30/10/2014 07:50

Edie is lovely, you don't need to adjust spelling as everyone knows it is Eedee, not Ed dee.

magpiegin · 30/10/2014 07:54

I agree with what everyone else said.

Alisvolatpropiis · 30/10/2014 08:12

Eidie is an unnecessary and unhelpful change of spelling.

Why would you bother?

DecaffTastesWeird · 30/10/2014 11:03

I'd go with Edith or Eden and shorten to Edie, but if you really want Edie I don't get why you would spell it Eidie... It doesn't look like it would be pronounced Ee-dee, more like Heidi without the H...
