Help!! Difficult choice of boys names: Sean, Daniel or Balonz?

Dear MNers. Hoping you might all be able to help us out as we’re having real difficulty agreeing a name for DS due soon. For DD, we went 'rare'. Weren’t sure we were quite ready to find some ultra-weird name, but equally there are millions of Kates, Elizabeths and so ons.

For DD though, we’re thinking a much more traditional name, perhaps inspired by close friends/family. What are MNers’ thoughts on either Sean, Daniel or Balonz? Many thanks in advance!

Is this Balonz?!!

I realize this thread is possibly a joke but I wonder if there's a chance of the OP pitching it to the BBC as a new sitcom. I'd love to see the daily lives of OP and little Balonz and Data. I've not laughed so much in years.

IAmBalonz · 02/10/2014 14:11

Tess i have just followed that account! The profile pic is hilarious!!

TheoGB · 02/10/2014 15:01

I’ve finally shown this thread to Balonz. He said he feels like he’s been insulted by all of mumsnet Sad and chided me (I won’t repeat exactly what he said Blush) for muddling up my DDs and DSs in the OP.

Sorry Balonz. Flowers Flowers Flowers

Thank you everyone who has contributed to this thread, I've been sobbing with laughter, you have all brightened up my day.

I love Star Trek and vote Worf Balonz for the baby's name

CoteDAzur · 02/10/2014 15:21

Hands up who believes Balonz from Surrey is OP's imaginary friend.

OwlCapone · 02/10/2014 15:33

Hands up if you don't care! :o

Balonz · 02/10/2014 15:35

There were 3 other kids in my class called Balonz, it's quite a common name where I live.

PlopTheOwl · 02/10/2014 15:42

Ha ha ha ha Grin Grin

ThreeQuartersEmpty · 02/10/2014 15:43

ridiculous name.

Hi all,

Just to let you know that this is a joke thread. "balonz" is a well-known, attention-seeking middle-aged man who posts multiple silly threads on the social forum of a music website called drownedinsound.com every day instead of working. TheoGB is also the name of a user of the same website (he's kind of the frigid, nerdy überdaddy of the forum - he wears fleeces!).

You can find out more about balonz at:

drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social

Here's a couple of his threads from today:

drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4454516

drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4454489

The pictures of balloons with frowning faces which you may have stumbled upon via google are creations of other members of drownedinsound, and the "science oven" is an ongoing in-joke on that forum.

Sorry that your time was wasted today. I'd personally call for TheoGB to be banned from here!

Thank you,

thewarn

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 02/10/2014 16:19

No, really? Because we were all taking it entirely seriously , obviously. Hmm

hildasmuriel · 02/10/2014 16:23

99 red balonz is now in my head. Made up or not it made me laugh.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 02/10/2014 16:26

I mean, TheoGB has come on here and given us all a good laugh for the day as we seek for ever higher flights of ridiculousness. Thewarn has come on and assumed we are all mindblowingly dense with no sense of humour. I know which I prefer, overall.

What Tortoise said.

thewarn · 02/10/2014 16:39

I think I made the mistake of assuming mumsnet was populated exclusively by humourless, self-absorbed women. Apologies!

PacificDogwood · 02/10/2014 16:49

thewarn, have you read this thread?? Actually from start to finish? Grin

I am actually grateful for the explanation which makes far more sense than anybody seriously considering naming their poor PFB Balonz - I feared we had a Child Protection issue on our hands Wink

thewarn · 02/10/2014 16:51

PFB?

wantacatplease · 02/10/2014 16:53

I think you'll find Data is the PFB, Pacific! Grin

PacificDogwood · 02/10/2014 16:56

Oh, sorry, 'Precious First Born', apologies.
Anyway, I was wrong: PSB Grin

thewarn · 02/10/2014 16:59

"Precious first born"? Is that actually how you talk?

What acronym do you use for second born children?

PacificDogwood · 02/10/2014 17:06

'Precious Second Born' Grin

Usually said tongue firmly in cheek.

Seriously, tell me, have you read the thread?
I dare you and not be laughing.

wantacatplease · 02/10/2014 17:09

Going by the thread on Drowned in Sound, I'd say thewarn is probably responsible for this thread, too, Pacific. Here, socky, socky, socky! Wink
