I like Thora use that.

Silver and Taffetta are awful. Tabitha is meh.

Curiouslygrumpycola · 12/09/2014 19:40

Isn't taffeta the name of a character in wreck it wralph?

I like Thora best.

HappyTalking · 12/09/2014 19:57

When I started reading this thread I wasn't keen on Thora.

By the time I have got to the bottom and said Thora so many times I really like it.

Kantha · 12/09/2014 19:59

Thora is fine but a bit old lady ugly compared to Tilly which is a cuter kind of name.

Tabitha. I like it. The cat thing doesn't bother me. It is a bit Malory Towers but I think it is nicest with Tilly.

Silver. Not great. Too dissimilar in vibe to Tilly. As someone else has said Sylvia and Sylvie is much better and works well with Tilly.

Taffeta. It's not even a very nice fabric, let alone a name for a real person. Prefer Velvet if we there is going to be a trend for fabric names. Sorry.

TortoiseUpATreeAgain · 12/09/2014 20:10

Silver is the name of a horse. Taffeta is just fabric (and it's a bugger to sew with so I am prejudiced against it even on that basis. Either Thora or Tabitha would complement Tilly very well.

Tabitha is much more widely used -- off the top of my head I know four Tabithas aged from three to eighteen. I could imagine the lead characters in a children's book being called Tilly and Tabitha.

You'd be more ahead of the naming curve with Thora; it's still got s bit of an "old lady" reputation. But it's been gradually on a stealthy upward trend over the last few years and I think that in a few years it wouldn't raise any eyebrows. It's got a cooler vibe to it than Tabitha.

mathanxiety · 12/09/2014 20:11

Tabitha.

The rest are unthinkable.

SilentBob · 12/09/2014 20:14

'Baby girl' names are pointless. She won't always be a baby girl.

Fwiw I love, and always have loved, Tabitha. Thora is okay. Silver and taffeta are too out there for me. Is Tilly short for something or is it just Tilly?

rolypolydoll · 12/09/2014 20:14

Really like all your choices op, can imagine a little taffy. Really like silver and thora too. If ruby is a name then why is silver not a name? I love a bold name choice.

sleepdodger · 12/09/2014 20:16

Thora is unfortunately is a bitch woman I know so gets marked down
T names turn out to be limited which could work?!
Thea
Thyme
Torre

Non T names
Vivienne
Pearl
Queenie
Claudie
Persephone - perci for short?

OublietteBravo · 12/09/2014 20:18

I like Thora - I think it is a really cool name for a girl.

MollyBdenum · 12/09/2014 20:24

Thora is fabuloys. Tabitha is nice, and has similar association to Tilly.

I don't like the other two.

fairyteepee · 12/09/2014 21:49

Thanks for everyones tuppence worth Smile Tilly isn't short for anything just Tilly. I think you have all helped me to rule Taffeta out, other than that i change my mind each minute!

Love Thora!

Lucked · 12/09/2014 22:13

Love Thora, DH wouldn't even let me put it on our long list although I brought it up numerous times. I don't know any.

theendoftheendoftheend · 12/09/2014 22:16

Given what you've written, I think Thora wins by a long way Smile

TiggyD · 12/09/2014 22:18

Silver - Not a real name. It's a colour like Amber, Jade, Magenta, and all the other stripper names.
Thora - Old lady name.
Tabitha - Acceptable.
Taffetta - As in ball gown? Not a name again.

Theas18 · 12/09/2014 22:22

Thora rocks! Mind you I think I have a think for "th" names, as you can guess dd1s name and dd2 middle name is Thirza ( after my totally amazing godmother - auntie ) . It might not be to mn taste but it's a real name not a made up one, sadly I really couldn't have both girls with th Christian names, that would be a mouthful!

manicinsomniac · 12/09/2014 22:25

I really like Silver.
Tabitha is ok. Not keen on Taffeta. Really don't like Thora.

If you like T names how about:
Tia, Tiana, Tina, Tori, Toni, Tamsin, Tasmin, Tamara, Tammy, Tess, Tessa, Thea, Taylor, Tyler, Tamika, Tanisha, Tulisa, Tallulah, Tarryn, Tegan, Tiffany, Teresa, Tansy, Talia, Tanya, Trinity

minkah · 12/09/2014 22:27

Silver is beautiful, a nicer version of Sylvia. I like Sylvie too.

Thora I'm not keen on, it reminds me of third hird.

Taffeta to me us just a No. As would be Jaffa (cake).

Tabitha is ok, but she will get called tabby.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/09/2014 22:30

Really don't like any of them, sorry. Silver and Taffetta are (imvho) totally dreadful.

OutragedFromLeeds · 12/09/2014 22:37

If you've given one DD a lovely name like Tilly, you can't lumber the other one with Taffetta!! It made me literally lol.

Silver is also terrible.

I don't like Thora or Tabitha either, and I hate matchy initials, but at least they are actual names.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 12/09/2014 22:39

Silver is great!I remember 90210

GnomeDePlume · 12/09/2014 22:44

OP just pick names you like. It really doesnt matter. The only people who come up with stupid plays on your DCs' names will be people who know no better.

CheerfulYank · 12/09/2014 22:45

Tilly and Thora very cute. :)
