I'm sat here feeding my insanely gorgeous 3 day old DS and trying to decide on his name.

It's between Frank and Callan.

Surname is an Irish McC name.

DD is Cassie, named after my great Aunt/surrogate granny (Catherine) who she never got to meet. I lean towards name with familial relevance and my taste is very retro as is DP's.

Frank was my Granda's name. He was a wonderful man who died not long after retiring to spend more time enjoying his grandkids Sad . I know my Mum would be incredibly happy and moved if we name DS in his honour.

I love Frank. It's straightforward and old-fashioned and to me is really quite cool.

Callan is the curve ball. We both really like it but I have a few reservations

Frank is a very strong name. I would choose that.

JennyBlueWren · 17/08/2014 18:16

Frank. Was it short for something? Francis?

Yorkshirelassreturns · 17/08/2014 19:19

I don't think there is a contest really- it sounds as though Frank ticks all of your boxes plus it has a real sentimental meaning for you. I prefer Frankie / Francis but that's only because I used to work for a nutjob called Frank. Go for Frank over Callan definitely. Congratulations! X

I have a gorgeous 10 yr old dgs named Frank. It is a lovely name. He was christened Francis but was always going to be Frank.

RedErik · 17/08/2014 19:59

Frank is an absolutely brilliant name.

So, least surprising conclusion to a thread ever.....

He's Frank Patrick Grin .

My Mum cried, I cried, DD cried. He's a complete and utter wee darling and I haven't put him down once in 4 days Grin .

Thanks everyone for your input Thanks .

Def frank!

HilariousInHindsight · 17/08/2014 23:59

Frank would go a lot better with a McC name (which I also have myself).

Frank is nice and simple - shouldn't be spelt wrong nor be too popular but not out there.

Great to honour your Granddad too.

Congratulations Thanks
Btw Cassie is a lovely name too.

AlpacaYourThings · 18/08/2014 12:54

Congratulation, OP. Thanks

Lovely name choice! Smile

Well done BunnyLebowski -- excellent name Flowers

ashesandfire · 19/08/2014 14:06

Frank. It's sort of cool I think.
I'm not that keen on Callan as it's too close to Callum and I hate Callum (I've taught a LOT of naughty Callums)
Also Callan and Cassie is a bit matchy whereas Frank and Cassie is a cool sibling combo (love Cassie btw)

Dontgotosleep · 19/08/2014 19:03

Frank is cute for boy and also good a man. It's one of those names it looks cute on his name peg but good and strong in the boardroom.
Callan is one of those names trendy now but to be honest it's a bit chavvy and will be cringeworthy.
Congratulations.

Thankyou op for updating! Find baby names so frustrating when you never find out what people choose! Frank is gorgeous. Welcome to the world baby Frank!

birdofthenorth · 20/08/2014 11:59
